  1. If you get a chance get yourselves along to see Al Green. Just got back from seeing him at Niagara Falls Casino and didnt really know what to expect, a gospel show, cabaret? All I can say is fcuking brilliant, 11 piece band, superb backing singers, lots of hits, couple of gospel things which were amazing and then a 10 minute funk workout by the band at the end of the show, all viewed from the 5th row. This was an anniversary gift for the wife so many "brownie points" safely stored away as well.
  2. I have to agree with Winnie here, if this is illegal what legal ramifications can there be. As my wife is always telling me " there is no defamation in truth "
  3. I have to be honest, I was tempted by The Isleys - My Love Is Your Love made to look like a TMG demo!
  4. "Has a record ever been 'discovered' simultaniously (or near enough) by 2 DJ's on the scene without them knowing and covered up with two completely different titles and names?" Dave McCadden wrote a story about him and somebody else finding a Sue Lynne on UK Rca on the same day and both covering them up as different names but with the same initials!!

  6. Has to be the Van Dykes, first "Northern" 45 I ever bought - pressing!!! Tewkesbury Watson Hall All Dayer
  7. I picked this up on Canadian Trans World a few months ago but the artist is listed as Ruby Anderson? Mis-print?
  8. Think I would have to go with the Four Vandals as well
  9. What is the current cost on this? Was offered one for $200C a few weeks ago.
  10. Not 60's but I have always had a soft spot for Rance Allen - I Know A Man Who - Gospel Truth - definate 70's dance floor potential. May have been played already?
  11. Jocko wrote -"I seen Bobby Bland a few years ago in Glasgow and have to be honest and say he was a bit dissapointing, he is just very old now and the voice, while still strong compared to some, does not do the man justice any more. Being fair it was in a huge auditorioum which is probably not the best place to see him" I saw him at the Silver Dollar Room in Toronto, which is a small Blues club and I have to say he was fcking phenomenal, small club, great band, Bobby in a Purple Velvet jump suit!! They had to help him up onto the small stage and to be honest I was beginning to have doubts but when he started he was just great. I also saw Mighty Sam McClain and he can still belt out the tunes and still active touring but not many Northern tracks?
  12. On the subject of Mirwood promos, are they all Same Both Sides or did some come out with A and B sides? I have only ever seen the same both sides type.
  13. OK, just got back from the Toronto and your man Lavertey was there selling. I actually bought some nice things off him but thats not what Im here for. Spoke to him and he said he had loads more of the same and gave me the number 416 551 0688 and to call him re. more records. Try this but the 1 after the 55 could be a 7. This is a different number than in the first post. Asked for his address but he told records were at his Grans and we would talk, he also told me he doesnt sell on ebay anymore but we know that is not strictly true from previous posts. There is also a number in the Fryer Mantis post for a record store where he is supposed to work, this store is called Ric's Collectables and in conversation with another guy I heard him say that he still worked there "now and again". Ric is a pretty nice guy so give the number a call and see if you can find anything that way. Next time I am in there I will also ask him if he knows Kevin but I have been to Ric's at all times of the week and never seen him there. Thats all for now, hope this helps in the end
  14. I wouldnt say I know him but I have spoken to him at a few of the Toronto shows. His ebay feedback was full of negs/neutrals about shipping times. I have read the Soulstrut posts and made a conscious effort to see if he was at the Toronto show last week but I didnt see him. There is a DJ/Hippedy Hoppety show in Toronto this weekend which I believe he attends, I will see if he is there.
  15. I bought one of these from Record Exchange Notting Hill back in late 70's, it was a promo and it had a promo cover with it as well. Long gone now though!!

Hey up Wilxy, We drove down from Cheltenham for that Newport do and try as I might I cant remember 2 drummers but can confirm that Junior's son was drumming as he introduced him as such. I seem to think it was later than 75-76 though, did he tour agian? But I definately went on a Tuesday.
  17. There is also a guy called Bob Solly who does a lot for Record Collector. He used to put out a great A5 record catalogue which used to turn upo some interesting stuff, usually mis-listed in the wrong section etc. You can contact him through Record Collector
  18. OK, lets attempt to clear up the organ playing!!! I assume the bloke is accompanying the singer because it says accopmanied by " " on the organ? I dont have the record here at work but I am assuming it isnt a woman as the first name is, if my memory is correct, is Frank!!! I am not sure if it is a test pressing or acetate but it just has a blank United label with typed info on it. And finally, if 2 blokes want to get together and have a sing song and one of them wants to play with his organ I am not going to judge them!!!
  19. Just bought a United Sound Systems acetate on 12" 78rpm so I cant play it and it is a gosple song by some bloke accompanied by another bloke on the organ!!! Bought it as it says along the bottom United Sound Systems, Detroit, Michigan. Justified purchase or sad git? Cost 50C Canadian
  20. I have just noticed that there are 45's on Soul King on ebay as well now, they look different to the ones I got from Rod Dearlove in the 80's. Surely there isnt demand enough to warrant booting these is there? The proper ones were plentiful on ebay not long ago!! Confused in Canada
  21. Just read the thread any it would appear I was a bit hasty with my posts, all a set up.
  22. I must have missed that, did you watch the clip? How old is it as he goes to a previously unopened box and pulls out a Temptones promo?
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHzf72ArXn8
  24. Has anybody seen this new label? So far I have seen Margaret Little and Pat Lewis 45's on ebay? The Pat Lewis is Genie which I thought was un released until it came out on the Conisseurs label?
  25. It was good to meet Alun Bell at the Hitsville weekender, I had been in communique with him for some time via email, nice to put a face to a name. I also had a couple of good nights at Soul Clan before it died, shame!! Kevin
