  1. bumpedeebump, open to offers!
  2. John, thanks but I already got a copy. I agree with you the hammond organ bits are the best. Usually if a record has good hammond organ breaks in it, it is a winner for me. Maybe time for reactivation of this forgotten oldie?
  3. For sale: Len Jewell - Bettin' on love - Teri De 0011 - 30 GBP EX condition. Second issue ("blue water effect" label design) with a different flip to first release. 75 quid on Manship's site. Postage: 3 GBP regular, 5 GBP registered. Paypal ok, no extra fees. Please PM me if interested.
  4. For sale: Debbie Dean - Why am I loving you/(same) - VIP W/D - 50 GBP Genuine stamped copy, EX condition, tiny scratch not audible. Postage: 3 GBP regular, 5 GBP registered. Paypal ok, no extra fees. Please PM me if interested.
  5. Do you mean that bloke who even had a "scan" of FW on his website? He turned out to have many many Motown related tunes but collection was far from complete. FW scan was fake as were a few others on his site.
  6. Andy, thanks for the info. Can see why it was massive at that time. Proper instrumental (i.e. not simply a backing track), 100% Northern Soul and then some. I bought my copy two years ago in a job lot and never actually played it until a week ago. Since then heavy rotation on the iPod This bit is from Manship's site: "Superb Northern Soul, with lickin' hammond organ. Memphis reworking of Lou Pride's classic - I'm comun home in the mornun - thumps along. Kenneth Smith and Al Green's organist did a great job replacing Lou's vocal." Fully agree with that. It's a shame that the flipside, instrumental of Lou's "your love is fading" is rather pale in comparison...
  7. Does anyone know the story behind Southwind Symphony - Coming home on Glolite? Fantastic instrumental version of Lou Pride's coming home in the morning. I understand this is a legit release done by the producers of Lou Pride?
  8. Tis is the 2nd post in this thread mentioning that someone in Germany might buy it. Where did you guys get the impression from that someone in Germany would be that loaded to pay 25K for a Motown record?
  9. thanks for the replies. they confirm what I thought about which sleeves were when used...
  10. D'oh! It was a Stateside issue not a London demo, mixed it up with Tony Middleton "My little red book" London DJ I bought from Chris the same time
  11. About 10 years ago I got a DJ copy of Four Perfections for a UK London demo of Sammy Ambrose Welcome to dreamsville. I know that Sammy Ambrose is probably rarer than Four Perfections but I only paid 20 quid for it off Catford Chris
  12. Steve, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I overlooked your post and bought an issue on Ebay. Didn't know anything about this release apart from the fact that it's missing from my Grapevine 2K collection. I got Al Williams when the demos came on the market so how I missed Detroit Mag's I really don't know...

I highly recommend this one to everyone! very catchy girl group dancer, bit like dottie & millie on topper. old Rob Marriott spin too...
  14. Must have missed this one when it came out one or two years ago: G2K 45-161 Detroit Magnificents Is This A Woman's Way/Where Can I Find Love Anyone with a nice copy for me?
  15. Oops, and said thread even called "Grapevine discography" Thanks a lot!
  16. I got a question that I consider to be one of the ultimate Anorak questions I understand that in the 1960s independent US labels used those brown paper sleeves if they didn't print their own company sleeves. Later on the white paper sleeves were used. Now the question is, when did they changed to white paper sleeves? Early 70s? Mid 70s? And speaking of sleeves, what sleeves did the UK labels use if they didn't have any company sleeves? Brown as well? TIA Benji
  17. Can some kind soul please post a list of all issued Grapevine 2000 45s please? I thought I'd them all but I have the feeling one or two of the later releases may have slipped through my net so to say. TIA Benji
  18. Offered a copy for 20 quid here on Soul Source 2,3 weeks ago but no interest in it at all. Put it up on Ebay where it sold for 32 quid.
  19. I know the flip about the girl with the big black boobs boots Used to have a copy which I sold last year and regretted that ever since...
  20. thanks but I already got a nice issue on its way to snowy Munich
  21. Paul, bootlegging legally issued CDs is something completely different and anyone doing this should get reported to the authorities, banned from venues or whatever to stop doing that. My post was only about homemade CDs.
  22. I think the question, is selling bootleg CDs ok or not, simply depends on the amount of copies and money involved. Knocking together CDs with the same old played out oldies and selling 100s of copies over the internet or at venues for ridiculous prices is not on, period. But selling a few copies of homemade CDs with not so obvious tracks for a few quid is ok with me. It's the natural successor to the homemade tapes that people used to sell at venues (or in some cases may still do), isn't it?

No matter what you guys say, I think Joe Jama is a fantastic tune. I heard it for the first time at the Bamberg weekender when Marc Forrest played it, fell in love with it instantly As I rarely go to venues nowadays it isn't overplayed for me as well. But I'm with you on the price tag, seems to be very inflated.
  24. Updated now. Paramounts deal currently discussed so that will be sorted as well (I hope). Anyone with a reasonable priced Phonetics for me? Doesn't have to be EX...
