Bloody hell, LOL I just spilt my coffe reading this LOL Just played the Matthew Barnett at last nights Hip City. What a great record thisone indeed is!
  4. well but how can you make sure no one gets "trapped" the way you were when you don`t name this fella ? In this special situation I would also say name and shame him... A deal is a deal is a deal isn`t it ? Marc
  5. won`t say how fantastic their work is as I just said so the other day somewhere else, but this trailer is just as good LOL !
  6. Hi Russ, hope youre fine mate ! Yes, I guess its quite safe to say that for the vast majority of Soulies on the continent who started before the nineties the 100 Club always has been sth very special and one location they always have and will continue to associate with what their first impression of what Northern Soul was all about were...be it the Allnighters, the music, the people, the first attempts to dance on the floor, to buy a record in there, the Kent records or even Adey himself
  7. hope you don`t mind one final (bumping) information...I will stop taking offers in 1hr and 35 min..exactly at 7pm.
  8. Just how sad! If it really has to close down it will be a very sad day for 99% of us. No way I am afraid this neo liberalist of a landlord will accept only one pound less than what he thinks he will be able to get for this location. No use in donating anything to anyone, it wont help or change the situation at all I am afraid. But then again change is the only continuity in life. So I am sure the 6ts scene will find a new good home and who knows maybe this change of place will become sth of a re-start. New venue, new faces, (again) better numbers ? Keep your chin up!

  16. well nth wrong with being behind as long as its you that is in front...as you indeed know your funk`n´soul and are one of the connisseurs thats for sure !
  17. no prob steve, as there was no ballon LOL I said as far as I know...I am happy to learn more people are playing it out..as its one fantastic tuen IMO that needs as much airplay as possible.
  18. If not I am sure Andy Dyson will have played it. Its him, Arthur Fenn and me playing it as far as I know. Fabulous tune and currently on ebay as it seems the guy selling it had not received the right offer via Soul Source..
  19. Not so sure on that one Tony. I remember negotiating with the guys at Motown/Universal when I wanted to get the rights to relase an unreleased Eddie Holland track on my label. They said "we can`t find the title neither in our files nor on any tapes..the tune in question is not existent" I answered it is well in existence as I have the original Jobete acetate in my hands while we speak. Still they couldn`t find it. And what they can`t find (in their own vaults) just simply doesn`t exist (for them). Marc

Is that right ? I would have thought its a known record to most ? I just played it last saturday to a good response at Bremen`s Soul-A-Rama...Having said that it must have been the first time I played it since over a year at least....solid old fashioned LA stomper. Who was the only other 45 on Utopia by ? Marc
  22. The Flame and The Lovelights on Jaber is one fantastic doublesided 45 indeed...and it is in fact by Jackey Beavers. Not only did he write and produce it, its even him singing... Good price on that one as well...
