Cheers Nev That's a handy snapshot. You do realise you've got yourself a job every Wed at 6. We're depending on you mate! Regards.
  2. That certainly is Sir... It's just the 2 pressings as the 'Chosen Few' I'm trying to nail down. Cheers anyway as all info is good info...
  3. Just to satisfy my constant search for truth I'm looking to answer another niggling question. The "guides" suggest there is a difference in rarity between the Maple and Canyon issues of Chosen Few - Birth Of A Playboy in favour of the Maple release i.e. the Maple release is given a higher guide value. From my experience it's the Canyon issue that seems to pop up less hence the poll. If you good souls can provide some data I can then combine that with the other usual sources (popsike etc) and get a better, if not scientific, idea of the true balance. Thanks in advance...

To be honest Eddy I'm damned if I know! But, what I think is it's a record that has seen a resurgence in interest and featured on alot of podcasts, playlists and some focus on forums etc. As to whether it's played out, it doesn't always follow that it needs to be played out to pick up the price. Once a dealer or sellers see a blip of interest or a couple of eager bidders bidding beyond a records 'true' value, there is a lemming effect and prices increase. In the main, these prices fall again once the chinese whispers stop and it's only the truly rare that hold their price but popoularity always has a part to play whether real or manufactured. As to the prices on GEMM they are, IMO, ridiculously high. Regards...

20 Quid ! Where's the justice when people are paying £50 and beyond for beaten up copies of The Ethics. If Mill Evans is a 20 quid record I'll eat my pants, again. I agree with the estimate of £40 - £60 in nice clean condition. Good luck anyway..

Hi Eddy Incredibles - Miss Treatment Is yours the issue or demo? It's not been that dear in the past (see book prices around £40 JM & TB rates it as 'Low') But it has been fetching £100 and up in clean condition on the bay as it's gained in popularity recently. I think a fair price is around £75 given current demand for set sale or chance your arm at auction. My preference would be for the issue and this may fetch a premium (say 20%) Just my opinion anyway. Cheers.

Please PM replies. Looking for nice clean EX+/NM copies of the following: Duprees - Check Yourself - Colossus 110 (Sorted) - King George & Fabulous Souls - Baby I've Got It - Audio Arts 60015 Please let me know your best price and your p&p rates. Fast payment via Paypal for the right items. Thanks in advance...
  9. Nice Move All's fair in love and records..
  10. The one on the bay is the star label design but I think the colour difference is just down to fading. As mentioned earlier in the thread I don't think this one has ever been booted so should be right. The seller has a hidden reserve and I personally wouldn't pay too much of premium for this over the other press. Good luck to him..
  11. Don't be sore Pete, I'm waiting for your new US list to drop in my mailbox to see what goodees you been hiding.. When's it going to be out?
  12. Cheers for the heads up Flynny. I'll take that off ya mate. Sent you a PM. Sorry Pete but £50 seems a bit steep now with all this supply Cheers Fellas...
  13. Pete Let me know when you get one I'll have one of you for £50 no bother... Don't forget now! Cheers.
  14. Hi Mark That was always my thoughts on it i.e it was a record store promo maybe given out at gigs etc. Interestingly, my copy doesn't have anything written on the flip just the "Come To Sax's" on the 'Dirty Hearts' side. Your copy seems to confirm that Sax's was indeed a record store. Also interesting, is the handwriting on your copy is exactly the same as on mine suggesting the same hand signed many of the copies. Many thanks for the info... Regards.
  15. Really pleased to hear your giving this some plays up at Burnley. Great records never date they just get better!! Regards...
  16. My primary reason for joining SS was to expand the opportunity to purchase tunes. My experience has been mixed to say the least and the only mature way of dealing with it is not to use the dodgy dealers again and give a piece of your mind in private. Surely in the longer term, the only sensible system of sorting the wheat from the chaff is a feedback system (I think there's a thread already in the sales moderation section). The system would be similar to the bay but tailored toward our needs i.e. grading, packaging, shipping time etc. The risk of unjustified 'bad' feedback could be moderated. As for pricing issues, if something is priced and graded and you buy it and turns out to be what it says it is then that's just the way things are. We all have to be responsible for doing our research on what's reasonable but selling stuff that is a pig and dressing up as something else is out of order... Just my opinion...
  17. It's only taken me forever to ask anybody about this but... Can anybody fill me in on the background behind the autograph 'Come To Sax's on lots of copies of Benny Curtis (including mine)? I've also posted a poll (I thinks that's what I've done) so as I can 'finally' see how many of this record were "got at" back in the day! If this has been done before please forgive me but right now I just need to know Thanks in advance for any info and participation... Regards.
  18. The issue might be the proxy bidding service. Pat offers this service as does John M. As Pete S notes above, when a bid on or around the finish time is made the auction is extended, in JM's case for an extra 5 minutes I believe, to give the person outbid the opportunity to raise their bid. The cut off times will be flexible depending upon the demand and bidding activity as they would be in a normal auction house scenario. As regards proxy bidding, if the highest bid was say £100 and you bid up one or more increments the proxy, i.e. Pat, would then place a bid for the bidder with the next highest bid increment say £110. This bid and counter bid will go on until the proxy bidder or yourself are outbid. This may or may not happen within 'closing time' or may extend beyond until all active bidding ends. This is perfectly normal practice but can be frustrating when it's you that loses out or ends up paying more. I believe this is the process but I'm sure Pat B can fill you in on the specifics of your particular case. Hope this helps...
  19. First thanks for the extra info on the versions and knockbacks that really is amazing info! I agree with the bootlegging issue to a point, but when a track as good as this has been 'knocked back' so many times as you say, isn't it a blesing to Joe Bloggs to be able to get hold of the tune? It may be imperfect, it may be profiteering by somebody or other, but the music deserves an audience. The artists themselves deserve the royalties of course but this is a very familiar story throughout the history of the soul scene. How many of us own a copy of Del Larks - Job Opening, Eddie Parker - I'm Gone, Mel Britt etc etc that maybe not legit and how many of us have been privileged to hear such rare tracks over the years as a result. Not perfect but what is... Cheers.
  20. Gentlemen Thank you for the info it's filled in the gaps for sure. Agree with you Pete, this is a mighty fine piece of work the Soul Beat people breathed life into! Cheers again.
  21. Ol¡, Just been sorting out some wheat & chaff and amongst my reissue/boot box rediscovered this tune. Detroit Prophets - Suspicion pressed on Soul Beat. Feck me, I forgot how good it was! I'm presuming it might be the same situation as the Tempests - Some Day and Melba Moore - Magic Touch i.e. previously unreleased. But I can't find any info on the band or the tune so if any Soul Sage out there can fill me in on anything then muchas gracias! BTW, do the Soul Police allow the playing out of such previously unreleased gems? Maybe an issue for another thread if not already done to death. Much LOve...
  22. Agreed on the Four Tees a really great record. Another tip is the Sunny & Sunliners on Key-Loc very nice tune that will no doubt get a lot more interest. LOve it!! REgards..
  23. Just been looking at Manship's latest auction items and spotted this tune. Had a listen and it's got an interesting eclectic soul/latin/funk sound. It's currently at £1 and books at £300. Not sure whether I love or hate it Before a take a punt has anybody got any background on this tune / label - info or just an opinion. Cheers.
  24. Just checked the listing on 45Heaven's site and it does state, and I quote: "Surprisingly hard to find alternative flip to 'Pigtails' - Anglo American has it on sale at £500 !!!" Anybody else seen this on TB's lists for £500 or otherwise because I can't recall seeing it?? Cheers
  25. I picked this Buddah 47 up a month or so ago for about $20 in minty condition minus a bb hole. I bought it specifically for Loving You which is a nice tune... But only JC knows what those big prices are based on
