  1. Yes. same as mate, same as. All the best, Len
  2. I think lots of us went through all that at our first nights. I felt such a t*t, but my mates (who were mostly nighter experienced) just smiled and told me to "just keep going"; I was ok in the end! - We're all the same (ish) really All the best, Len
  3. I asked for that didn't I? Len
  4. Good topic. A while back, on one of the ‘Analysing The Scene’ threads, someone stated “I used to love dancing, now I only like dancing” which I thought an interesting thing to say. Terry is right about the ‘vibe’ of a place, whether you’re a dancer or not - When I first went to The 100 Club, you couldn’t get me off the floor, because the ‘vibe’ was so right for me. I was on such a high, on so many levels — The Music, the People, the ‘Cuddly Promoter’ (approachable), the ‘Welcoming Committee’ (not ‘over the top’ friendly though) the D.J’s, the Coffee I was drinking at that time, the Attitude of everyone in the place - All this combined made me dance! Nowadays I get different things from different nights, we all know a lot more people than we used to, so that can ‘get in the way’ of dancing sometimes - before you know it the nights over without a dance, but having had a great time - Sometimes I do miss finding a DARK corner and dancing like a lunatic though, Burnley was the last time I really ‘let rip’ All the above just my experience, and I agree that no matter what ‘part’ you play (Dancer, Listener, Block Head, Chatterbox, ‘Record Bar Person’ or whatever) they all get their own thing from a night - some just don't dance, no problem with that. Dancing for me is a fantastic ‘release’. All the best, Len
  5. Like falling off a horse - Get 'the f*ck' back on that dance floor, and laugh at them, laughing at you! (Copyright Terry) All the best, Len P.s - If your back allows you to that is
  6. Go and listen to it again with a positive attitude, and see if ya don't change ya mind Sorry, I'm getting my threads mixed up! (See the John Manship thread) All the best, Len
  7. The Brooks Bros, is 'ok' but never REALLY hit the mark for me, I feel if it was a cheap record it would have been forgotten a long time ago. Sorry 'phild' - we differ slightly on this one, go and listen to it again with a negative attitude, and see if ya don't change ya mind 'Rip off' I think was just aimed at the price and not at John Manship, but I expect you have to be 'ultra aware' of these things Chalky, just in case. Pyramid going by 'sound alone' (forgetting how rare it may be) is worth it, in comparison to others - That's if all records were priced just by what they sounded like, with just my taste being the grading All the best, Len
  8. Do you know what? This one has always confused me, for some reason I feel I shouldn't like it, but I absolutely love it, maybe it's to do with 'the memories' - K.F.C! All the best, Len
  9. Oh yes, it is funny sometimes. Especially if the said person doesn't normally do something like it - The ol' Dutch Courage has kicked in, they get your attention, then suddenly they panic a bit, 'sh*t, I'm on the stage' seems to dawn on them. I do feel for these ones though as obviously they're not the aggressive ones, they're just out for a good time and haven't a clue about the Scene that's all - I think I can forgive that All the best, Len P.s - Kimbo's witnessed 'The Angry Mob' lol
  10. I would welcome her with open arms mate - She's right anyway ya tw*t, Gordy isn't Motown - READ the label stupid! Len
  11. Well, most of mine, no all of mine (I could write a book) have never been 'humorous interludes'.....I've always struggled to see the ‘humour’ behind the gnashing teeth / scowling face......Then there's the 'Angry Mob' outside, complete with Pitch Forks (Bless em) Len
  12. 'The Preston Heckle’ Love it. Crumbs I think there could be a separate thread on 'Heckles' alone! A few years back, I handed over to 'Mr D.J' after my spot (and it's not as if the floor was completely clear to most of it anyway)....and to quote said D.J (on the mike!) - "Right, that's enough of that Sh*t, now for some proper Northern Soul" - Etiquette, just beautiful......I couldn't tell you what record he started his set off with, but I assure you it was 'Propper'! All the best, Len P.s - I never returned to The 100 Club after that
  13. D.Jing's sh*t isn't it? All the best, Len
  14. ‘Doug Banks - Ain’t That Just Like A Woman’ That ‘Pow Wow’ thing? ‘Ike and Tina Turner - Dust My Broom’ All god awful tunes - My Opinion (without the 'humble' I’m afraid) Tis the Topic! These are things I’ve always hated and not ‘used to like, but gone off now’ All the best, Len P.s - Yes, and that awful ‘Catch That Tear Drop’ (Just backing Dundee Davie’s post)….Just realised - From 12th Jan! lol - Only just seen this thread
  15. Nothing wrong with Madness - Great Band! Len
  16. Pete's correct actually, apologies if I took it in a slightly wrong direction. Anyway, I am a bit out of touch with ref prices in general, I buy what I buy and that's all I focus on. I've just seen that ‘The Soul Bros Inc - Pyramid' has sold for £839.00 on an auction - Is that an amazing price or is that what was expected? Just trying to put all this into perspective, I think I paid £200.00 you see. All the best, Len
  17. Thanx for recognising ..…um, ref the ‘highly strung’ bit….Although it pains me to say this, you obviously haven’t met me…..Hey ho, I know my faults ......But I do see most 'Wit', it's just the 'Dry Wit' I miss every so often All the best, Len
  18. I know, I know - Damn this 'Two Dimensional Cyber World! - I was just 'adding to the fun' It's funny when you see people get mixed up because of misinterpretation, sometimes it can go badly wrong (Said from experience!) All the best, Len
  19. I think we're all agreed on this - The prices seem to be settling down to realistic levels, and this is an observation of a positive thing. Good point made about people spending fortunes on Beer over the years, whereas we have something to show for our spare cash. All the best, Len P.s - It don’t feel right this. Can someone please aggressively disagree to give this thread some oomph!
  20. That's just being nasty Len
  21. This is a funny subject if you think about it, as it was the last thing on my mind when I started out and continued to buy records. The thing was to, ‘get the b*stard in ya mits’ then you were a ‘Happy Bunny’….Right, what’s next?......and so on…… My concern is the fact that they are worth something, and the only reason I am focusing on that fact, is because I (as are others) am relatively skint at present, my records are the last thing I would want to part with. But if (like me) you are running around in a car with a cracked wind screen, and the engine makes a bubbling sound every day on the journey to work, and you have a few records that could buy you a new car - Now that is ridiculous……but I will not sell I tell you! Seriously though, I do think it’s getting close, do you know what? We actually ran out of Merlot the other evening - It was devastating, it’s the kind of thing you only imagine happening to someone else…… All the best, Len
  22. Unfortunately you are right......No soul some people aye?…..So the ‘Tempo War’ continues….. Tastes do change, as you say 'in vogue', and I also expect things will change again (again) Mid-tempo not for the big rooms at present, unless 3 or 4 slipped in without anyone noticing , but the smaller rooms seem to be embracing them again. Point of topic being, this style not in vogue, so prices have dropped a tad on them. All the best, Len
  23. He he, my Son said he'd keep them "So I won't forget you" - Bless him, he didn't say he'd play em though Len
  24. Exactly, so really the discussion of what they are / will be worth is just that, a discussion and not a concern (to most people anyway) I'm hopeful I can hang on and keep mine forever anyway - I'd be lost without putting them in some strange order that only I understand. All the best, Len
