  1. its what its all about for me, same as those guys at the flamingo or brazennose street.
  2. Basically, if the OVO situation has to be explained to you, you need, to buy more tunes, get out talk more to other punters, go out to events, anything other than be DJing at yer local handbag night! just my humble opinion, but all this justifying what should be patently bleeding obvious to anyone on actually on the scene, we dont constantly have to explain why old men wear ridiculous trousers on here do we? Its an essential part of heritage of the scene, except it.
  3. Mentioned it on here before but, Gloria Gaynor- You'll be sorry- Jocida much Cheapness here, payed £15 of you English pounds for it me sen, her first record. Its uptempo, has an amazingly accomplished vocal style for one so young and an unmistakable latin feel to the production, get it while you can.
  4. Just waiting for someone to throw in a ringer like this one, basically, the only question to ask is can you get it elsewhere on a more authentic format? is so dont play it, the Poggy and the monarchs is prev unreleased to obviously ok to play it, but not the other side for sure.
  5. Same as my little girl instro, on jay boy, isnt it?, but who wnats to hear stomping instro's nowadays anyway, esp if they've already been played on the scene,
  6. There always some Dj only to ready to play to the lowest common denominator, and his mates/ missus only too ready to tell him he was brilliant for playing the 'champion' or 'lets go somewhere'. These guys think its some kinda revelation to play the records we all own but avoid playing everytime through want of something a little more wholesome, I love a fritter from the chippy but I dont want it every night.
  7. if its been booted its old hat, play something thats not been on a official CD, boot or even on the tube!
  8. can you give us any idea of what your looking for style wise, what the music policy for the night?
  9. There are certainly still plenty of punters out there, which is good, but the lack of unity such a situation brings isnt positive. So many many middle aged men who wanna dj, myself included, thats great if it stems from a passion for music, rather than a desire to feed an ego, the former reason leads to musical diversity and quality, the later can lead to punters hearing hammered pricey oldies over and over again or sub standard but again expensive, exclusives's imho.
  10. Totally agree, without a doubt the most significant venue over the last 25 years and beyond. someone did put down the first kent LP, its hard to divide the two entities.
  11. I've heard the same tale, Jez..... sure you told me about this!?
  12. just what I was thinking, and I wasnt there!

  14. thats not developed overnight guys, the culture of motown themed nights has developed over the last 30 years
  15. looks great, I look forward to a well organised premier with credible DJ's.
