When I first heard this at Coalville nighter in the 70's , DJ Neil Rushton played it off a 10" acetate , I think he imported them too , might be worth asking him ? Best ,Eddie
  2. Thanks for that Malc , I guess being quite small would have helped create an unbelievable atmosphere at the venue , did the balcony go round most of the building ? On another note , although the Casino was a huge building , I always thought that the dancefloor didn't look that big when the venue was empty ,but took on another dimension when it was packed to the rafters .Best ,Eddie
  3. Great pictures , got to say , not having been to the Torch , must say how small it looks inside ? Best Wishes ,Eddie
  4. Yes , that's where I saw them .Best ,Eddie
  5. Thanks for everyone's feedback , just remembered that I heard a Ric Tic /Golden World CD last year , not only was the quality very good , some of the mixes were different from the released sides , interesting eh ? Best ,Eddie
  6. The Exportations " I want you " , Otis Clay " The only way is up " , Debbie Taylor " Just don't pay " [ though I bought it for the deep flip " I don't wanna lose you " ], and several others from the 70's and 80's , usually off Soul Bowl if an import and Pete Widd at Wigan if it was a new UK release .Best ,Eddie
  7. Steve Davis has [ or had ] POT 1 ,saw it outside Thorne one night !! Best ,Eddie
  8. Has anyone on here got any thoughts on the new Ric Tic / Golden World CD's that have been released ? Are they the real deal as I thought Universal /Motown owned these labels ? There's also a Sue compilation which seems to have come soon after the Ace /Kent releases .Has anyone bought them , what's the quality like ? Best ,Eddie
  9. The strike starts at 12pm thursday , though they are still talking tonight . Best ,Eddie
  10. John did 2 or 3 great interviews for the magazine Big Daddy a few years back . Best Wishes ,Eddie

Is it me , or does the Grapevine issue sound slightly slower that the Erica release ? I've always thought this ,Best Eddie
  14. Thanks for posting this up Pete , every time I think I've moved on and got The Casino bug out of my head , listening to live recordings of the old place , takes me right back and tugs at the heart strings .Makes you realise what great records Russ played in the early years too .We all scoff at the likes of The Javells getting played , but doesn't it sound great on this tape ? Hope you can post up Richard's spot and yes he did play Gary Lewis !! Thanks a lot ,Eddie
  15. I used to go to Terry's promotions at the KGB and B'ham Locarno , used to make me laugh when he stopped the music to promote forthcoming events , don't know of any other promoter doing that - legendary !! Best ,Eddie

  21. Hello folks , I've had a copy of Steve Mancha Friday night [Groovesville ] for years , just noticed it's a DJ copy , is it significantly more valuable than the regular issues , or not ? Thanks for any help , Best ,Eddie
  22. The flip to this is a killer down tempo side , and you need this issue to get it .Bargain IMHO , Best ,Eddie
  23. Really sad loss , one of my faves by Willie is " Man that I am " on Gatur , he also wrote "One more chance " for Margie Joseph [ Volt ] .Really grateful I caught his act at Cleethorpes w/ ender [ thanks Ady ] .A unique artist , he will be sadly missed by the Soul scene , RIP Willie , Best ,Eddie
  24. Can I have 5 ? The Wheel , The Torch , Pendulum , The Cats [ nearly went to the last night, but that's another story ] and Va Va's . In conversation with Steve Glover and Jan years ago , at Soul Galore record stall , they reckoned that Up the junction , Crewe was the best , so would've liked to have gone there as well !! Wish I'd gone to The Mecca more as well ,especially for Colin Curtis's last hour sets, but Wigan was more straightforward on the train .Best ,Eddie
  25. W King Cole " I wonder why " and Harold Tyler " Reality " are 2 modern / crossover sides that are hitting the spot for me at the moment ,Best ,Eddie
