Dug this tape out to upload....a live Wigan tape.....can anybody date it...more commercial sounds earlier on and later in the tape it sounds like Brian Rae deejaying.....I'm Getting Ready For Love by Paintbox gets an airing....and scratchy sounds bizarre!!

Absolutely massive on the mod scene prior to it succumbing to sike and freakbeat.In 85/86...everyone had copies............bought mine for £5.....just checked and its an original...

My problem is i collect the lot,northern,jazz,freakbeat,latin,psych and library lps.Thank god my compulsive buying was years ago.I rob Peter to pay Paul sell some to buy some....just sorted 200 ska/reggae doubles inc crabs,Dr Birds,Escort etc.I managed to get a few today in the local charity shop....one of them was Love Dimension-I found out on uk Black Bear from 78 in a uk Revolution rocksteady sleeve!!

Sammy campbell.. i never thought....been after it for ages.Thinl ive made my job even harder now....doh.Lead singer with Del Larks.

Ive a boxfull of tapes most are unsorted...there are a few with prices next to them...ie sales tapes.I darent look at them.Tape swapping was massive wirh a thirst for new sounds.I never see anyone with 50 count record boxes mooching around now.There was only one lad at Stoke i saw last year...but a box of boots.Is it me or was everyone into records then...ie collecting selling trading.I suppose if you were there then you had made an effort as it was still underground and word of mouth...no films ....no Vogue catwalks.....no press.Got a few videos as well Bankhall Miners and Burnley...re Greg Fay it was him living above the pub.Hes doung alrihht working for Ridley Scott.Him and Danny were at the Dome alldayer early last year...i told him.Eamsy had a Chandlers and i ended up brokering a deal....once a record man always a record man.

I remember me and my girlfriend getting a lift from Greg Fays place by Danny Huff and Roly.He was living above a pub and his place was full of old trousers he had imported from the USA.Danny was selling mobile phones at the time he was ahead of the game there as i didnt get one until 94.....the new thing to have and he had an impressive company car....tis a pity he couldnt control it as at one point the dual carriageway went into a single lane and Danny was that busy jabbering with his neck turned to me in the back that he didnt notice the coach ...lights flashing coming towards us.It was a great weekend though.I have always been a tempo terrorist and i do like Colins set....but just not the stuff i would get off on dancefloor wise.Butchs set is great...ive had a few copies of the Mike Jemison and been after the Sammy Campbell for a while.Tony Troutman was played everywhere at the time esp at Modern Soul gigs.I should have taped Clarkies set but i was in the radio room at that point with him.It was different then as it was just flyers and buying Echoes....for one page! I used to rip those pages out and still have a pile of them...

Here's one i taped in 84.....Chris Kings brought Eddie Holman and he played live at Tiffanies in Newcastle.........cue me taping this on the amstrad and racing up to Newcastle.....funny comments from Dave Brown re the loss of soul music late Wigan.........northern soul was dead in the eighties...........mmmmmmmm i don't think so.Dug it out after deejaying with Chris on boxing day in Middlesbrough.

Currently doing an Eddie Holman interview he did for radio Tees in 84 with ChrIs King...I taped it then had to rush out to get the bus to Newcastle.

Found another tape from this weekender.Anybody know who the scottish deejay is....not keen on his sounds.Butch has a slight dig at the deejays going back to the fifties.Anyone who as tapes of radio stuff on tape and wantsto see them on youtube and have copies on cd just pm me and i will transfer them for you.

Its Danny Peach ...he is on facebook.They put on a lot of oldies events and play a mixture of cds and vinyl.

Ive a few to upload including interviews with Marvin Smith, Yvonne Baker, Edwin Starr etc...plus a few more Richard Searling ones.I had one with snooker player Steve Davis being interviewed somewhere...he played mostly modern stuff.Theres also a radio Tees one ive had for donkeys years which i taped when Chris King brought Eddie Holman over....i saw him play at Tiffanies in Newcastle.

I like a lot of these records listed.....but some of them should have never hit northern soul decks.Nick Nack being one...in a cellar club with a load of mods yep.Anyway heres mine. Dolly Gilmore...Dont You Know....i know the other side got a spin once at the Mecca but whose idea was it to turn this one over.Its like Cleo Laine on an acid trip on the Love Boat with a sax solo from 7one of the muppets. Doug Banks I Just Kept on Dancing....whose idea was it to introduce cha cha cha to the scene..there was a swathe of these type of records.Probably would fit at a cha cha cha or popcorn night but a room full of riker likers?? The dreaded Tribute.....massive with the handbaggers...whose idea?
