  1. Problem is some deejays want to play the "big" dancefloor sounds Luther Ingram etc etc and they cost money. The easiest route is boots/reissues.I agree you could put a good quality set of 25 records together on original and still have the dancefloor buzzing. It just takes a bit of imagination and digging. It is even easier these days....no waiting for lists or visiting shops. Ebay and auctionsniper has opened up an easy access world to buy original 45's.
  2. Any news on venues for boots/reissues /venues for ovo?
  3. If they are playing boots/reissues etc you would like to think that that the costs would be lower but I suppose it depends how much they are paying the deejays and the hire of the venue.

  5. I go to quite a few scooter doos and this sort of stuff gets played with modern ska....there's a whole new movement around it with blokes who look like Mickey Pearce dancing to it. Off topic youtube video removed. If must post Youtube videos please ensure they are relevant and interesting to the members. Off topic picture removed, what you said in your post is enough.
  6. Can you tell us at what venues you played your boots and what venues wanted originals only.Thanks.
  7. I'm more Jack Regan.....anyway thanks.
  8. Jesus.....you get more gigs than a deejay with a boxfull of originals. Are these soul nights and do the other deejays play boots/reissues?
  9. So you are saying you play out legal reissues(ie Lee Roye-Tears UK MCA)....not boots?? or a mixture of boots and legal reissues.Would you pay £150 to replace Lee Roye with a US copy? and what is the problem with telling us what venues? A lot of people are not bothered whether it's a boot or original/reissue.
  10. I take my hat off.You are the first on here to say you play boots and just out of interest is it the big money items that are the boots?.Where do you deejay then?
  11. Okay then where have you been deejaying then?
  12. I don't know why it is so cloak and dagger for the boot players .....when they play out they are playing in front of a crowd.Anyone can walk up to the decks and look at their records. What's the difference in coming on here saying I play boots i dj at..........There's been plenty of simple one line answers from the original players.......I play originals i dj at but not many boot players.Maybe there's not as many boots being played as I thought.
  13. The thread is do you dj/do you play ovo and at what venue .......why don't you come on and say I play boots i dj at..... or originals only i dj at.......... plenty of people already have.
