I'll start the ball rolling with my personal favourite..dunno why but I love it but here it is: The Vonettes-Touch my Heart

First person who did a tape for me back in 84 was a guy called Phil Hall who did a few local spots round Manchester way and I've stil got it now...after that I latched on to lots of people who had more records than me...one of these was my mate Nick, a fellow City fan, from Manchester who I worked with at the Co-op...loads of crossover, mid tempo stuff that's big nowadays he had 20 years ago...and I thought I'd mention him as he's recently signed up to this forum... Hello Nick .....he'll be embarrassed now Now my biggest influence is my other half Richard..... obviously and the Greatstone boys of course- Soul Function Dvd
Yep and the documentary in Beatin Rhythm with Paul and Steve talking about their experiences...quite funny- Lets Get The Cheapies Thread Going Again

Sad news, I believe he'd been really ill for some time. RIP Lou. Here's one to remind us...- What Song First Gotcha?
First proper Northern Soul that I heard...(after The Snake and stuff like that) was probably played at Cloud Nine in Manchester-it was a semi mod all dayer on every Saturday..They played a mixture of music like revival mod bands like Secret Affair and two tone but then there was a dj who'd play a couple of hours of 70s northern stuff which I instantly loved even though I was a proper mod at the time....whenever I hear Benny Troy,Lew Kirton,Prince Phillip Mitchel, Flame n King....it takes me right back to being 14- Why Is It Rare To See Dj's Dance?
I've seen Mark Bicknell dance a few times... before the leg injury that was Who else, lets think....Neil Jones (behind the decks at least) , Roger Banks.... Paul Sadot dances a lot and is probably the best DJ dancer I reckon.... Oh just a quick edit...Joan of course-she's the best really....will let Paul be the best male- What Do You Think Of This?
Does sound like Simply Red..or Charles and Eddie. Poppy 80s soul- Mr. Dynamite "sh'mon"

Sure you don't want the 45? I've got one if you want one?- Top Soul Night Of 2005 ?
Well Mike's already said Soul or Nothing (my favourite night was 26 Nov-my wedding day) ...BUT apart from that I would nominate the Greatstone New Year bash- Ghost In My House Played At Stoke - New Years Eve
The one time I went to Stoke they played records like that and also more than once...they played Tell me it's just a rumour" 3 times...twice with the vocal, once without...This old heart of mine, and God knows how many times they played Ruby Andrews (but I don't think it's allowed to only play Just Lovin you once in a night)... So, although Richard badgers me week in week out to go to Stoke, I've resisted a further visit so far- Wrong Words
Mmm, ah....no, Hot Chocolate actually - Influences
