  1. Take a listen to Frank Wilson and imagine you've never heard it before....it'll sound like the best record ever made...it's utterly brilliant as a northern soul record
  2. Erm....

Any of the MGM dancers from 73-75 on the blue and gold label are legitimate reissues; Dottie Cambridge, Velours, Robert Banks, Clara Ward.

Can't agree with you Sebastian, originals are actually quite rare and should sell for £40-£50

  6. I definitely prefer Johnny Was by Stiff Little Fingers to this one anyday
  7. Antellects - Love slave total and utter overrated nonsense
  8. OK now look at the track listing, what's wrong with that, I think it's a pretty good cd on the whole BUT not exactly value for money...remember 30 trackers?? 1. I'm Waiting - Bush, Bill 2. Yeah but he might have kept going for the nostalgia trip...I've always meant to go back one day
  10. Doesn't surprise me. Cloth ears.
  11. Teri Goodnight - They didn't know Romance Watson - Where does that leave me George "Earplugs" Lemmons - Fascinating girl Billy Arnell - Tough girl not sure how anyone can dislike Lady In Green mind...or Bob & Fred now The Carstairs, that's a tune to hate

Are you having a dizzy spell Billy or something? Landslide on original is worth £30 tops. Sam & Kitty £40. The Fury's isn't even on Mirwood, it's on Keymen.

  14. I disagree - I think it's very inventive. As NS, yes it is rubbish but you've got to admit it's clever. That's off one of the cut up/bootleg sites I think (if it's not, I apologise)

Dave, I remember once coming across a website which was basically a booking agency for 'oldies' artists and there were tons of soul acts on there, unfortunately I can only remember Little Anthony and I can't remember the site, but what I was going to suggest is try searching for a few booking agency sites and you might well find someone.
  16. I'll try and take a photo of the Soul label cos it's very nice looking. They all seem to be black with silver writing but I've got one that's white with Soul in red, looks superb.
  17. I've posted up about 10 remixes and some of them were really good, using "The Amazing Slow Downer" which is a program you should be able to find on the net - change the pitch of both the voice and or the backing track. Maybe slightly pointless but good fun.
  18. No offence Kooreman but do you actually know what Northern Soul is??? It ain't The Gap Band...

Hey I wasn't far off then
  21. Bloomin one hit wonders
  22. n.b. obviously not an unknown as it's in both Brown and Manships price guides (35 and 100 quid respectively) but both have it as being on the BRA label. Seriously.
  23. You're too clever for your own good matey yes it's Byron Lee & The Dragonaires (vocals Ken Lazarus) thats the exact label credit, on Jamaican SOUL label. I got this today for $5 along with another track on the SOUL label, the fabulous Wide Awake In A Dream by Philip James (Blues Busters) which as you know I have on Island cos I sent it up a few weeks back but I think I'll sell the Island copy now. That was $5 as well. Got me 70 Jamaican 45's, half ot them blanks, but everything is ska or rocksteady so I am saving them for tonight, have a little session.
