Tolbert - I got it :graynone:
  2. I've not heard any of those but they are all rubbish

I'd just like to know why someone would spend over £200 on a US copy of Queen Of Fools

I had an original UK mauve Columbia copy of this on Ebay last week, it's worth about £60, a guy won it for something like £6 then actually complained that it wasn't VG+ but only VG!!!!
  5. Great record
  6. Yeah thats great, so is the B side, and Wide Awake In A Dream, but I heard a cd of his stuff covering 62-65 and most of it was horrible
  7. Where they all this good
  8. Is it seriously thousands of pounds? Makes you think what something like Tainted Love or Love You Baby would be worth if they were rare. Anyone who would consider paying more than a quid for that pile of crap needs treatment. It's the sort of record that drives people away from venues - if I knew I was going somewhere and that sort of thing was likely to be played, I'd stay at home and watch MOTD like I usually do p.s. that really was the first time I heard it
  9. No I meant Jerry Jackson, it's horrible early 60's pop like most of his records. I love the Steve Aldo record though (and on the same label, John Andrews & The Lonely Ones - It's just love)
  10. Yeah I just made that up (not really)
  11. No, that one deserves to be ignored
  12. No it's not, it's utter, utter shit. Please tell me what I am missing here, it's badly sung, badly produced, badly played and is f*cking shit. What is it you like about it so I know where I'm going wrong?
  13. I just heard this on the soundfiles section and I think the impossible has happened and I have found a record that is actually WORSE than Larry Houston. What on earth makes companies put out records like this which are so bad that surely not even the singers own relations could have bought a copy. Worst record I've ever heard. p.s. I liked the instrumental of Peanut Duck though
  14. Dear Mike, I have been back into all my 6 pacs and have done reviews and comments about all of the records (except the northern ones which everyone knows about) but hopefully people may learn a fact or two about ska and rocksteady if they want to. I hope I will be getting a gold star for this homework
  15. styrene is brittle plastic with peel off label; vinyl is more flexible vinyl with moulded label. I've had a Rivingtons vinyl issue a few times.
  16. Yes that's the one I had... got a lovely near mint Island one now
  17. Have done another couple of Northern ones and a couple more rocksteady ones also, they are up now and are working correctly!
  18. I had it on Jamaican red vinyl once, I think that was on the Soul label, but it might also be on a label with the strange name of Bra.
  19. I'm going to put up another song in a minute but a 'modern' one, I'd be interested in seeing what you think, whether it's classified as reggae or is it soul?
  20. Not sure, but it's actually The Blues Busters, Philip James was one of the duo, no idea why it was credited to just him. It's on UK island and a mint one would be worth about £80.
  21. Well I've sold some lately, about 50% of the ones I advertised, but they were really rare things like Ready Steady Go Rocksteady, Live It Up, Here Comes The Duke etc. If you let me know what they are I'll price them for you if you like...
  22. Coincidence, have just done a couple more comps and the other side of The Uniques is on there, Love And Devotion.
  23. I have a few like that but they need a bit of digging out. What I really wanted to publicise was the rocksteady stuff, not the ska, because I find the group harmony sound absolutely awesome - they are very influenced by the likes of The Impressions. If 'Queen of the minstrels' is up on my next 6 pack you'll see what I mean.
