Slightly Exaggerated Sales Posts
(stands up and applauds) that was a brilliant post... and also what really gets my goat is, as touched on above, there are people who only come on here to sell records, they make no contributions at all to any debate, even when it's about records, they obviously have the knowledge as they have the records, but just leave it to everyone else - why? And why are they allowed to just come on to sell?

Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
Oh it was brilliant down there mate, I got 2 Frankie & Johnny's (one issue one demo), a Ray Charles Doctor demo, Birds Birds on Reaction, Tintern Abbey on Deram, Billy Joe Royal on CBS, loads of Motown and Stateside, The Artwoods LP on Decca, absolutely nothing since I moved back home.

Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
Andy I got one from a boot sale in Hastings once, I'd missed it but this guy rang me up at the dinner time and said I think I've got something for you, a mint Tony Middleton Polydor demo, he said it was an old lady who had it, she only had ONE record, and it was leaning against the tyre of her car and nobody had bothered looking at it except him, paid her 10p for it, I gave him £150 for it, sold it for £250 about 3 days later, that was back in about 2000. Not had one since (a demo that is)

Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
Had 'em all before but doesn't stop me being extremely jealous

Moments - Nine Times
Maybe they were just mailed out to dj's, the companies had huge lists of people to send promos to in those days

2 Nice Records
Buck Rogers isn't a British record???

Just Arrived In The Post (Or Just Bought)
The Kubas - Sweet Music - UK Columbia demo. Same song as Chris Cerf. Not sure which version came first. Kubas is typical blue eyed UK stomper with some "fuzz" overtones. Bought it because in all my old UK collections it always evaded me. You'll all hate it

Incredibles - Audio Arts Boot ? Help Wanted
You can see the patches on the label in that photo though, especially top right. I'm sure the matrix details will differ as well though.

Incredibles - Audio Arts Boot ? Help Wanted
Yeah all over there are small patches where the label is rough, it's hard to explain

Incredibles - Audio Arts Boot ? Help Wanted
Kegsy, all you need to do (with the green one) is look at the label, if it's not completely smooth i.e. small rough patches, it's the boot. I've had boots with drill holes in, people put them in to make them look authentic

Moments - Nine Times
It was Steve, I remember thinking they'd missed the boat with that one (and also not releasing I've Got The Need off the Moments lp despite overwhelming demand for it)
-
Moments - Nine Times
It could but was thinking it was using the USA way of writing the date
-
Jimmy Beaumont
I'd have thought £150 maybe...
-
Moments - Nine Times
Also, that scan at the top, that has a date of June 1st on it, well I went to the Casino in April and it was being played then, I know that because it was on the first ever tape I recorded there along with Little Joe Cook, Marion Love, Joey Dee etc...strange that it has a date at least two months after that

Moments - Nine Times
Can I just say what a fantastic record this is
-
Moments - Nine Times
They must have run them simultaneously Steve, I bought that when it was being imported and played and it was definitely the orange one. I think.
-
Moments - Nine Times
Thats the first issue as far as I know, but as stated, they just redesigned the label

- Four Tops - Is There Anything That I Can Do - French Tamla Motown
One of the best Tops tracks ever! Played it to death as a kid, off the MFP album- Backfield In Motion
According to 45 Cat it's 1974 but I had it way before then.- Info Please
That's the first issue, it's not particularly rare, £15 or so in decent condition, but the red and white demo copy is worth at least £500.- Backfield In Motion
I remember buying this from Jenks' newsagents in Wombourne on the fried egg Concord label, that would be what, 1970-71, I asked for "Black feeling in motion", I'd heard it played by Emperor Rosko on his lunchtime show on a saturday - Four Tops - Is There Anything That I Can Do - French Tamla Motown
