  1. No but that seller is - a brain
  2. That's what a lot of great Northern Soul is and that's why we love it.
  3. See this is where it just goes mental - Susan Barrett, presume you are talking about a black RCA copy, £200 sensible price, £300 tops, £400 is a joke and £600 is farcial. just because you love Johnny On The Spot, that doesn't hide the fact that copies have turned up, the price has gone down and it was only mediocre in the first place. Going by the records you're talking about, you don't have to worry about the pennies, lots of others do though and the original question was whether it's right to suddenly bump up the price of something just because a nutcase pays twice it's true value in an auction. * Mick Smith told me to say that now that Susan Barrett is worth £600 apparently, he'll sell his for £500.
  4. Actually you are spot on there, it's the riff from The Everly Brothers song Walk Right Back.
  5. No I'm serious, 1200-1500, don't think Chalky (from Dudley) got 1000 for his last year
  6. I think the last one I had was £20. Hard Way To Sell.
  7. Mark, you need to know about Monarchs pressing code: it's a 5 figure number (changing to a 6 figure number circa 1975) and it is invaluable for dating manufacturing dates of records. For instance, an original record from the mid 60's would start with a 5, 6 or 7, pressings/bootlegs from the mid 70's tend to start with an 8, 9 or 0. This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure someone has the key somewhere.
  8. Trust me to be the odd man out, I've got this and I only play the "I washed my hands in muddy water" side, never even played "Mohair Sam" I don't think didn't Jerry Lee Lewis do one or both of those tracks?
  9. Interesting, but they only get about 300 viewers, specialist market really?
  10. I know, before reading that I had no idea I desperately needed a Direction label demo of any description

  14. Well there was no intro because I already did one, at the start of part one, it was a non-stop 70 minute job, I only split it cos it was too big to upload to vemo where it's hosted. Next one I do, I am thinking of wearing a disguise when I do the intro, like a moustache and a hat. Just to make it interesting.
  15. Cheers mate, but thats not gonna happen now, in the process of selling them all off at the moment, shame.
  16. No what really frustrates me is when I have a really, really good record and nobody's interested it, so I end up selling it for peanuts, then 6 months later it appears on a JM auction and goes for way more than I was originally selling it for, good example, Sweet Nothins Cry Baby Cry w.demo, I could think of loads if I put my mind to it. It's like people need that big seal of approval before they'll take a chance on something.
  17. https://vimeo.com/29315156 As promised, but slightly sooner than I predicted, here comes Part 2 of the the second epsiode of Lost Gems, the music is better than in part one I think, and it covers the labels beginning with L through to W. Hope you enjoy it, listen out for the incredible Freddie Scott record at the end. cheers, Pete
  18. Rich I have just realised I made a mistake with the Elena record; it's actually recorded by Roulette Records in the States - it even says so on the label but the writing is so small that I didn't actually see it previously! No wonder it sounds so authentic.
  19. No, seriously Keith, if I wasn't trying to save every penny at the moment I'd have bought it but I can't justify spending £60 on myself at the moment, thanks for the offer though.
  20. I'd do what I mentioned above - sell it at half the auction price. Or auction it starting at half the auction price
  21. OK it'll be uploaded and ready in about 90 minutes pop pickers!
