  1. It's a bit odd that the Freedie Gorman "Miracle" single hasn't been found seeing as I've got a copy here...plus he had at least two other solo releases for Ric Tic so hardly his only solo effort.
  2. Swoz, think about it, it's dead easy to get loads of signatures. Just ask me, or anyone else who does a mail out, to put a link to this thread or straight to the petition. I can't think of anyone who would charge for doing it, I'd be happy to do it.
  3. No, the petition is a fine thing to do for a great singer, just can't see why people have to tell us all that they've signed it that's all. p.s. done
  4. Just a thought, are we now going to get 500 replies all saying just one word "done"?
  5. The only thing I can find to complain about here is the fact that they especially want people who can do the 'acrobatic style' dancing. You know, the sort that went out in 1977 and only show offs and camera bandits have done for the last three decades...
  6. I was only reading this thread at the weekend, odd that you should stumble across it too, certainly made me sit and contemplate for a while, still a much missed guy.
  7. Cheers Ian. Sorry, didn't mean it anyway, I just couldn't hold it back. Good luck with the CD.
  8. As a 'music aficionado', I am eagerly anticipating having my next sh*t more than I am anticipating this CD.
  9. This record never dates, it never fails to move me, it always sounds as brilliant as the first time I ever heard it and as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the top 5 Northern Soul records ever made, a truly unbelievable track.
  10. They only advertised it for the first time on Monday, it's not out for ages.
  11. Pete S commented on a comment on a gallery image in Scans of Soul
  12. There's two or three already out there mate - Goldmine put out one particularly brilliant selection
  13. A genius. RIP Richard.
  14. It is a good point though, and I point I made when it came out - I'd have loved to know the artists reactions to finding out that their records were popular, or how they came to make them; I remember a short clip of Garnet Mimms was included where he couldn't believe Looking For You was popular, said he recorded it and forgot about it
  15. Good to see you here Ian Levine, I hope you try and keep calm in the face of provocation and don't explode like you usually do, as it would be nice to have your knowledge on here for a while and not see you get kicked off
  16. I know what you mean, but they had no choice but to re-record them. The new stuff is really good though.
  17. Ian has expained to me that they haven't sampled anything - brand new technologly which didn't even exist a year ago now allows them to analize the unique frequencies of those northern soul drumbeats and change the sounds that they recorded themelsves to match almost exactly. Ian's got over 2000 master recordings, containing all of the original drums from Baby I'm still the same man, Your magic put a spell on me etc - and you can tweak these drum sounds to make them sound as if they come from any era.
  18. I reckon so too Eddie. Maybe I'll try and get an mp3 and post it in the media section so more people can hear it.
  19. Bit of a difference between one drum roll intro and a whole song made up from other tracks though. I like the Frank Popp records anyway.
  20. I think the problem is, we got so used to the Levine trademark production sound that we didn't feel the need to actually listen to anything else cos we know what it's going to sound like - I was genuinely surprised when I went onto his youtube site and actually listened to some of the tracks today. Did you hear the sample from The Sweets - Something about my baby, right at the start, I got that in one this record don't half grow on you after 2 or 3 listens though
  21. What about this...this has surely got to be as good as any recent product played on the Northern scene...I think maybe we dismissed the 21st century northern soul project too easily without even listening
