I can't stand any of those Temptations records they did with Norman Whitfield - psychedelic funk rubbish.
  2. Mossy, you can check this if you like, I sold Timi Yuro on here, this year, for £400, I bought it for £250. VG+. I don't rate it as a top end rarity, it's just had the price pushed up by morons. Great record mind. Glen Miller was a big record 7 or 8 years ago, that was when it peaked, if it's going up in price now it's because some people are only just catching up with it. And let's face it - Timi Yuro beats it into a cocked hat, quality wise.
  4. £50 - £60 purple, £100 pink

If the UK Doctor Bird is worth £1200 then it's time for me to hang up my collecting boots I think. Now I sold a MINT Patsy - Blues In The Night last month for £300 and I rate that as being tougher than Glen Miller. Having said that, I'd ask maybe £450 for mint Glen Miller should it ever turn up. £1200, that makes it the rarest UK 'soul' record, and frankly that's just nonsense Dave.
  6. I'll have the Jackie Deshannon when you reduce it to 40
  7. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
    Nah don't worry about it
  8. Popsike is very hit and miss, it can't be used as an accurate guide, I've sold records for hundreds of pounds and they've never shown up on there
  9. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
Vince if you don't find one I'm almost certain I've got one, you can have it for nothing
  10. I only had that one Marc, it was, as Ted said, Mick Smith's
  11. And that sends them the message?
  12. Anyone know? Sometimes I get an email from someone I've paid for a record, and it says something along the lines of "your item has been despatched", does anyone know how they do this, is it set up automatically?

This is doing my head in now, I've definitely seen this with a Stag design, it was a white label with black printing and it did indeed feature a picture of a stag and the typeface was like the Jamaican Trojan label.

Slight problem, well two slight problems here; Lynn Taitt played on about 5000 Jamaican recordings and, Glen Miller recorded a couple of hundred sides!

I paid 120 quid for my latest Doctor Bird copy just 2 months ago off D The Drug, nice of him wasn't it, no centre but better than my last one!

That Darrell Banks Stateside demo is cheap, I'd snap it up if I hadn't got the red and white!
  17. Yeah I guess you're right - it was years before I saw a copy.
  18. Maybe, but the second print run never appeared because he defaulted on payment on the first or something like that - and the fact I've twice sold my copies of this book for over £50 must say something about it's availability, I fluked the first one off a Motown collector and paid £40 for the second off ebay.
  19. Sorry but thats only part true, Soussans book was a very limited publication and most didn't get distributed, his book was made up mainly from a Koppell wants list anyway - when ebay started I and a few others were in clover, it was only around 2001-2002 that everyone seemed to join ebay and then of course everyone was after the same records. Once the price guide was out, we'd had it. Don't forget you could get great records out of Discoveries up until the price guide came out as well. Let's put it another way - that price guide has almost put me out of business, so I'm f*cked if I'm going to praise it, not that I don't use it, it's great for b sides and catalogue numbers but to give all that information out, it's like selling your soul. nb John told me he only put his out because Tim Brown was going to do it anyway. This isn't about John or Tim Brown, it's about the existance of a price guide, wouldn't matter if it was Rod Hull and Emu who put it out, the damage was done.
  20. All except one...
  21. When the f*cking price guide came out!
  22. I used to know what the last silver top was but I can't remember now, it would have been early 67 though I think, the yellow demos continued til 69 or 70, I did write all this up somewhere but the old brain cells have deteriorated. 10121 Earl harrison is a definite silver top but 10127 Brenda & Tabs is a box logo I think.
  23. Someone else who obviously never got subjected to 'comedown hour' at the Casino "who's on next?" "Dave Evison" "Shit, I think I'm coming down"
  24. I got this one off ebay last week, 80 something quid.
