Because it's one of those commercial records Jayne, i.e. it was in the charts, the other Pete has it spot on about playing it alongside Johnny Johnson etc. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it.

I'd expect to hear it at a "soul and motown" night

  5. Ian I'll swap you an original Carstairs Red Coach WD for it
  6. Yeah I'd say 50 tops for Donald Jenkins, great record but very common.
  7. No I don't think it does, which makes me think, I don't think I've ever had an original demo at all
  8. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
It's a moot point but I would have to disagree with you that it's a better record than either of those two..
  9. RARE STOCK COPY OF THE ARABIANS - PLEASE TAKE A CHANCE ON ME / YOU UPSET ME BABY - LE MANS 004. This one looks about EX- b ut plays like a dream, Mint minus at the worst. NO hiss, scratches or clicks - superb. (writing on one side only) £200 ono
  10. NIce one. Though this one doesn't need sound clips cos I just wanted to find out how many variations of labels there are.

Jayne, playing this out is the equivalent to playing Theres A Ghost In My House or Out On The Floor. Not that there's anything wrong with them mind...
  12. THE APPRECIATIONS - SHE NEVER REALLY LOVED ME / THERE'S A PLACE IN MY HEART - SPORT 108 YELLOW ISSUE. STAMPED. NEAR MINT. £70 MADELINE BELL - PICTURE ME GONE - MOD 1007 STOCK COPY EXCELLENT. £25 THE BROADWAYS - YOU JUST DON'T KNOW - MGM13592 STOCK COPY. I don't think that's really a novelty record apart from the daft lyrics and title, it's a typical period pyschedelic/whimsy/toytown pop record. They did a great version of "Soul Sauce" though. And a cover of "I'll Always Love You"

This got in the lower reaches of the Top 40 so why it should cost anything over £25 is a bit of a mystery - can clearly remember hearing it on radio 1 when I was about 8. Great record though.
  15. Yeah thats one of my early works
  16. This is the fastest Northern record ever - same backing as The Butlers - She Tried To Kiss Me p.s. £30 is top whack for this
  17. I don't understand what the record has to have to qualify, it just looks like it's any record by a woman basically?
  18. TOMMY MOSLEY - FOR HER LOVE / YOU LIED, I CRIED, LOVE DIED - UPTOWN 706. SOLD Really excellent double sider - £125 on JM - this has superficial marks which make it visually vg+ but it plays near mint, both sides. Asking £70 including postage. cheers pete 01902 893569 pete.smith@freeuk.com
  19. Had some enquiries about these but nothing yet sold so am bumping again...don't see these every day
  20. Not sure I know who he is, must have had some clout to get his own logo though
  21. Hurrah, I think I found a new one..
  22. I've only ever heard The Astronauts - Syncopate, which was featured on the original Trojan story but I don't know why...it's a weird guitar instrumental...think it may have also came out on Island.
  23. This is the thing with Jamaican records Chris, many of them have over 50 different versions, some over 100! I prefer the ones that have maybe one different take myself. For instance, I was amazed to find there was another track that uses the rhythm to The Whip (Ethiopians), been collecting the music for over 35 years and never knew it existed til last year (it's rubbish mind...Fatty by Bim & Bam)
  24. Yes, but only sketchy info from what I remember reading. Tony would probably be your best bet. I remember it was apparently run by a guy called Count Hala and he was from Guyana and I think the recordings were all done in the UK...thats all I know!
