Up Front?
Or "Real Deal" Chalky? Whatever description you use to promote an event, someone will pull it to pieces.

John Manship Auction Results 8-4-2015
I was very disappointed with the response to all my Arctic stuff Mark. I had a Kenny Gamble issue which is bloody rare and a Herb Johnson that I couldn't give away. My Honey and the bees was minty but had to settle for lower prices for all of them.

I was off the scene when it was played Kev. So it sounds fresh to me.

John Manship Auction Results 8-4-2015
I noticed even back a few years when I sold up that Honey and the Bees wasn't easy to sell. Seems to be out of fashion. I like the Delrays. Bet it sounds great played out. It must be very in vogue as the price seems to keep going up.

Turley Richards - I Feel Alright - Columbia Demo
Turley Richards is the best version by far. It's the production that kills it.

Record Prices
It's the solid gold big ticket records that are fetching the huge sums. I still believe that the majority are buying them to Dj with. It's the guaranteed floor fillers that everyone wants. Try selling most of the mid tempo / slow big ticket stuff and it's a real struggle. A lot of the ones that fetch big money aren't even that rare, but everyone wants to own them. Supply and demand.

Never Mind Simon Soussan. Who Was Bob Cataneo?
Thank you all for the input. Sounds like he isn't known these days? I only dealt with him through letters, but I liked the guy very much.

Betty Swanne C/u For Sale £2,250
Sorry Mick, but you can't possibly rate this Betty Swan in the same league as those two?
-
Betty Swanne C/u For Sale £2,250
Now that is very true, and I have had to hold my hand up on a few occasions in the past. However in my defence I have got some very decent quality speakers plugged into my computer these days, and am able to ratchet the volume up to get a better "feel" of any sound file.

I like Tommy & The Derby's. I once tried to cover a record up, before it was half way through someone came up to the decks and told me what it was.

The Gaylettes On Black Jack
Just shows how rare it is when all the knowledgable people on here don't know anything about it.

Never Mind Simon Soussan. Who Was Bob Cataneo?
I used to buy and trade records with him in the seventies, and I heard stories about him being involved in bootlegging some northern records. Anyone know his story?

I'm all in favour of cover up's, but they need to be worth covering. Otherwise who cares?

Masqueraders
Dave I was trying to make a joke. You said I had taken a sabbatical. Lighten up. We never claimed to have discovered anything new at Burnley, and it was the punters that called it the Burnley sound. We never claimed to be anything special. We all have different tastes at the end of the day. Personally the Gentleman Four does nothing for me, but I don't like Marmite either.

Sorry Benji I hit the wrong letter on the iPad. Either that or sometimes the spell check takes over.

I know Bengi but the record before the news is always a throw away. She should have played it after the news is what I meant.- 'send Him Back' On Radio 2 Drivetime
Like I said in the other thread, she rather spoilt it by fading it out for the news. A bit like Simon Mayo who uses fantastic records as background and then plays the biggest pile of poo. Drives me insane.- Masqueraders
