  5. While were talking about Kenny B can someone Pm me his address as Ive lost it and I have 3 DVDs to send to him and Im too embarrased to ring him to say Iost the bloody thing when he gave it me in Dundee 3or 4 months ago cos I was drunk as a skunk- Blame Mick H. Cheers Steve On The FW issue Its a bloody great dancer thats been done to death like any other great record to the point where we become Snobs about it. I suppose like most big oldies. I love hearing "Condition red" out at a venue once in awhile because it reminds me of great days when I was young! But I wouldnt want to hear it every week!
  6. Smigger - You & Pete S would make a cracking comedy duo - This why Ilove the sarcasm on this site. Boba (Bob) Thanks for the info on positive feedback leaving negative comment - I will investigate it. Cheers!
  7. Looked at my feedback on Ebay How about this one! Leaves Positive feedback and writes this. " Sellers beware - he challenges the postage and blackmails with negative feedback if you dont lower" When I left them positive feedback - they yet again left the same comment as a reply. Bought 2 items off them (Opalshores is their ID) which were kids dresses. - I obviusly got them cheaper than they thought! They tried to charge me £6 for the postage for the 2 Geroge school dresses 2nd class. Obviously I challenged the postage! got some whining reply and I said - Fine I will pay the £6 but when it rrives it had better cost that much or I will report you. They then had a change of heart and the postage was reduced. They notified me that the item had been sent and said thanks for the business! next I see ids their sneaky little comments so Ive written back to them telling them Im gonna put their shit on the ebay community. F**king thieves!
  8. Pete- What would this site be without you Mate. make sure you get me tickets for the Wolves Blackpool game Please

It was me Ian- Their was or still is in another format a soul site called " The Northern soul forum" It was a local site to Aberdeen/ Scotland and was designed by aguy who collects web domains like we collect records. One of the clubs in Aberdeen thought it was exclusively their forum but were soon told it wasnt . The local feud was raging on this site and it spilled over to here if you look at the threads on the Aberdeen Allnighter - It got very nasty on the other site including threats of violence. This whole question of Whats acceptable or not became a terrible ongoing local feud of which I was partly to blame along with others. Some one asked for a definative so I did a what might be considered a code of Ethics / guidance/rule book whatever people wanted to class it as and asked for opinions. I got few replies which didnt surprise me seeing I was using this to fuel the long standing debate or feud between myself and some others around the OVO debate. That site has now changed and Id have to re-register and contact the Administrator to see if it could be archived as it took me a good 7 days to come up with it. Hope that explains ATb Steve
  10. The Irma Routen (I will sacrifice) is a nice double sider and one of the harder MGM releases and not widely known! Ive only ever had one copy. Try Barry Waddington(45Heaven) as he has had one or two copies.

Its the very last line as to why I am so passionate about what is right and what is wrong in my opinion and it appears a few others are similar minded! The site I tried to list a definative on has changed and I cant find any archive so Ill have to try to get the website owner to send me a copy. I did it as a potential guide and asked for opinion. I got very little response if I remember rightly. Everyone apppreciates its unwritten rules as to what is accpetable to play. Its the people who make a mockery of this "Code of Ethics" if thats what you want to call it. One record (london reissue) that was played at the wrong time* caused the start of the biggest destruction in a happy scene in Aberdeen and friendships were lost because of not following the "Code of Ethics" and the arguments just spiralled. * Wife of Local Dj bought him an original Cameo Parkway Yvonne baker (YDSAW) for his birthday which was on the same night (or same week) as the soul night. Obviously with pride he was talking about it to the other Djs. Another DJ who was scheduled to go on just before him plays the London reissue copy knowing Full well that the Birthday boy was going to play it. Their are grey areas and Im giving Mike Cook the benefit of the doubt here as no definitive "Code" has ever been established and maybe an opportunity for a number of Polls might help the situation just as price guides help. Please slap me down but I think any changes for the better is called evolution!
  12. Finishing price £509.00 Madness! and abit of sour grapes! Does it now mean that in Johns next book he will value it at £500?
  13. Bought Focus three Lp and Santana 3 of a guy in Stockport with each item having Postage for £3 for second class. I asked him for the total including P&P and the total for the P&P was £6 When I questioned it he knocked £50p off. I costed sending 2 lps of similar weight with packaging and told him thats what it costs . so I waited for the reply with another deduction to come His reply was - he put the P&P back up to £6 and said he decided the P&P not me. I said OK Ill pick them up in person- He replied that thats not available on his ebay account only postage so I asked him would he be posting a Ford KA if he sold one. The next thing I know hes asked for the transactions to be cancelled. Ive not left him feedback yet - any suggestions?
  14. I sold a copy of the Bell boys on here a few months ago for around £100 which the JM guide price indicates and actually the price I paid for it! One hour to go and the damn thing on Mannys Auction is sitting at £314. So Does Jms auction contradict his own guide price and am I hoping it doesnt go for anymore?

This is the answer I was looking for with one exception You can make a copy for personal use but does not include use for public broadcasting which is what a Dj does. ADY you missed my point entirely My point was we can get rid of all of this rairity issue by downloads and help the artists at the same time. Every Dj would have 1000s of tunes at their disposal and it would nearly get rid of the legitmacy issue. The same people who argue that OVO is elitest are the same people who wont let DJs use Laptops cos "we play vinyl only here" Its just Hypocrisy in my humble opinion. Hey you do a great Job no one can question that - each to their own as most of us have done something good for a particular scene. In my case its Football in your case its music.
  16. Dek - didnt you buy the one off me for £30? on June 13th
  17. Jason theres one or two on ebay at the moment on King - Not expensive at all. Have you heard the Kenny dope remix version - Its brilliant IMO

Actually Ady in regards to just using computers points 1-7 with the exception of 6 are not Bollox. Ive been involved in a local feud up here about the OVO subject and wanted to debate the subject face to face in a neutral situation those who I regard as bringing the scene into disrepute as far as Djing is concerend on the NS scene- Granted they have a perfectly good argument about playing boots but wont discuss it with me in person. I still think people who decide to play previous issued records are lazy in the fact that they wont take the time to research but take the plaudits in what my view is disengenous. If Someone plays the Hamilton movement - eg Babs Grassi then people clap not only for the music but the recognition that this Dj spent her hard earned cash on the elusive antique as opposed to Mr Wannabee Dj who goes and buys the boot / reissue whatever you want to call it and expects that the accolades come in for them and then class themselves as a leader of the genre. Sorry It dont wash! Example when buying an original record as a DJ as opposed to a reissue / boot etc. I pay £400 for the Tokays - When I get it I do a lot of cross referencing to make sure its original Mr Wannabee Dj buys the Sevens 45 for £5 and doesnt give a shit because he knows its not an original. Is that caring for the music /scene/origins etc? ATb Steve
  19. Pete Ive got Nancy Ames - I dont want to talk about it SA CBS Tri centre and Shirley Ellis - Soul Time SA CBS Tricentre Would the same apply? Cheers Steve
  20. Not a foolproff way but if you looked at what was a hit in SA(on London) and compared release numbers that might give you an indication although some numbers may be out of sync. However if you could corralate say half a dozen to the period with very near numbers that might prove the era.

My anger is that unlike you Mike who have asked the question- Others dont do any research at all and dont give a F**K about the origins of the scene and just want 15 mins of fame playing NS purpose released uk issues Question How many on here would play Doris Troy on Mojo knowing it was a reissue of the Cameo release. This scene is not only about the music itself but about the obtainability factor. The Big Maybelle item is a red herring because when Rojac re-released I cant wait any longer theyr werent aiming at the NS ssne wehereas the Pye disco demand were and thats one of the key factors about the choice of whats acceptable and whats not otherwise lets forget vinyl in total and just play of Computers -Ipods etc. before anyone says it - It does matter and therefore thats why the debate is ongoing. P.S Dave Thorley - Theres enough in Aberdeen who would like to see me hanged without you Dave:lol: Love the sarcasm Pete! P.S. (not pete smith) Thanks for crossing out the "Scotsmen" Mike Question for Ady- Why dont we just reissue everything legitimately and play them and we can forget anything about rare records - No Ive got it Ady dont reissue anything just put them up as licensed downloads and we can all DJ with Computers and forget this rarity nonsense once and for all! Think of the benefits: 1. Not spending hours trawling the internet 2. Spending my money on some other trivial rubbish 3. Instant Dj status and equal DJ status with people like Butch/ Levine/ Curtis/Searling/ Soul Sam etc because we would all have the same tunes 4. Wouldnt meet people who collect records and have good discussions about originality and history 5. Wouldnt have that great feeling of whats coming through the postbox 6. Wouldnt have to search through thousands of dirty pieces of plastic looking for that exclusive tune 7. Wouldnt have to get angry about losing out on ebay cos Im a stingy sod Theres loads more but the list would be very long! Now do you really want this! :yes:I did a list of what was acceptable and what wasnt for debate on another site. Ill try to retrieve it if I can. The purpose of it was to standardise so that promoters and Djs could decide whether they wanted a OVO or non OVO and not get slagged. Sorry Pete but others do have opinion on what they think is right Anyone watch the film last night "The wave" It was a great example of the debate. If no-one told you what was right or not how would you know and Im not talking just N.S here. This scene was originated on obscure original records not F***king Boots represses etc so that should answer it DJs who play Boots / represses etc are "Lazy DJs in my humble oipnion who just want 15 mins of fame!
  23. wow! Just done my usual as playing it- when I bought it for Brown is beautiful and never listend to the other side! What a record- Has great potential
