Anglo Auction - Matta Baby
Sold mine acouple of years ago as well for about £130 Pete S has sold a couple of copies I think in the last 5 years and Ive seen others on ebay as well as the one on manships auction. Not sure how many on Popsike! Still dont think its worth more than £200 tops so how you can start an auction at £400 for this beggars belief! The baltimore & Ohio Marching band original W/D demo is far rarer than this and that wont command more than £20

Postage To Oz How Much For A 45
This is where the problem lies Ken- Ive been selling some very rare memorabillia and couldnt put a post price on the ebay listing because of I didnt know what it would eventually go for and their are different rates for insurance. The point is that unless you have it signed for and Insured then you take the hit if it doesnt turn up because techinically the agreement is you have sold to him a record for X amount and until it is in his hands its still your responsibility and even when it is in his habds - if its cracked its still your responsibility and you take all the financial burdens with it- Its best to have it Tracked with enhanced insurance to the value of the record. However if its a £20 record I wouldnt put all the insurance on it and just take the loss ATB Steve

Invisible Mans Band
The 12" single is lomger than the 45 and I actually think is better! but thats just my opinion. "Yanks" that takes me back - The alternative name to "Global" the home of the Uk Cream label.

Northern Soul Film
Would the producers be happy with Objective criticism? - Who went to critically appraise it? I would certainly liked to have done it - Mind you they had better give me some vino after the event and not before as we all know what Im like after a couple of glasses of fine wine (HIC) Seriously who did appraise the film?

Collecting British
I think the point re the UK items has been missed- Its not about collecting as people collect bootleg Uk items eg Soul-Sounds label and that isnt frowned upon- Its taken that you can collect anything- Its about playing it out as a DJ is when the question arises as to its originality of release. ATB Steve and welcome

Oldies V Newies V Old Newies V New Oldies
I totally concur with this train of thought- The problem is Some people dont like this current style of Northern Soul sounds so they put on their own oldies night because they say"Not enough Oldies being Played" only 3 to4 years down the line they start playing the new contemporay tunes (I dont understand that given their reason for starting an oldies night) - Seems alittle bit hypocritical to me. Each to their own and stick to your principles you had in the first place and dont venture into the realm of people you were slagging- Thats what I think would help.

Easy 70S Ones?
It seems JM has the 12Inch for £50- Now thats not abad price actually!
-
Easy 70S Ones?
out of curiosity how much you are selling it for? I have one already Im just curious of Current price.
-
Easy 70S Ones?
Original Never came out on 7inch as far as Im aware 12" 45 only and is quite rare! so I will be amazed if you get one for the price you are quoting. Took me a few years to get the 12" Just looked on Popsike and one in 2009 went for just over £60 so I think £6 is a bit optomistic dont you? Even the album especially on Salsoul is £40-50 Can I ask where you got the £6 for the 12" from? ATB Steve

Ebay, J.m. Auction Or Soul Source Sales ?
Think John said on here theres no reserve now. Ebay is up & down like a YoYo - Sometimes it goes for considerable more than what its worth in the price guide then a comparable copy goes for alot less afew weeks or months later. I think some people have sold up on here because they were losing interest so that why more bigger ticket items have been floating around. Some say the scene is on the way out and want to get shot before the collapse- In 1980 I did just that and made a huge mistake as een now Ive nnever been able to get back loads of titles (Now Classic oldies) that I had then. I still think that after property your record collection is the next asset that is holding its value in this day and age. So my answer is Spread it about

Unreleased Stuff... Eddie Holman, Judy Freeman
I dont understand why this has replied to your post- It was to Gregs post- Sorry for the confusion. Steve

Unreleased Stuff... Eddie Holman, Judy Freeman
Its not a question of soul police- because its a question of whether you have the legitimate right to cut copies. Ady spends money on licensing to bring tunes to people -You think you can cut what you want and its totally legit- Well Im afraid it isnt and therefore anyone who plays the copies you cut are playing bootlegs - Forget any principles then and see what some of the guys who have spent loads of money getting originals/test presses/orig acetates think about -No rules anymore - just do what you want as its quite acceptable- Its not just a legal issue here but its a moral one based on purporting to be a committed OVO DJ only when it suits! I think its wrong The latter is my opinion - The ligitimacy aspect is fact- Ask the music industry watchdogs. So if you are not bothered about playing illegal copies go ahead but then the next time you pay big money for a record and someone else carves it and plays it before your spot- Dont Complain! ATB Steve

Unreleased Stuff... Eddie Holman, Judy Freeman
The question was who is the owner- The person who has the test press / acetate is not the owner. Its the copyright owner or the person who has licensed and thats where Ady comes in - He paid money to have the license to copy- The person/s who got a carver done of the test press did not have the license or permission. As I have just pmd Mike in response to his pm to me- I own one of the 2 copies of the Sidney Barnes orch. I play it out. However I dont have carvers cut of it because I would be in breach of copyright and anyone who had got a carver from me would be effectively playing a bootleg. and its not fair to me who paid a few hundred for it and the other person who similarly paid a considerable sum for the other copy to see people playing it out on a £20 carver its neither legal or moral in the debate about boots! As you saw by my previous post I think it might be a good idea to have a definative of what is and whats not allowed if you purport to be a DJ who plays OVO. This would haelp people make better judgements in my opinion as to what they play out. Its only my opinion but ring up the music industry and ask themif its legal or not to cuta carver without the Copyright owners permission. RCA might not beinterested today but if someone uses it for an advert Im telling you theywould be very interested in who is playing unauthrorised copies as broadcasts.

I'm So Glad - The Fuzz
Fabulous pice of girlie soul- Should have been a big hit! I have all 4 copies Uk Issue/demo & US issue /demo and an original US promotional poster for the record. I was considering to frame up!

Unreleased Stuff... Eddie Holman, Judy Freeman
P.C. Ernie Andrews is bringing you in for questioning! Who are you talking about as "owner" Gareth?
-
Unreleased Stuff... Eddie Holman, Judy Freeman
"A Dub from the Owner" Did Greg own the rights to the Lp as well as the test press. If not then you were playing out a illigelly made copy otherwise known as a bootleg! It would be really good to have a definative of whats allowed and whats not for Djs who take their craft seriously! I did a list for another site some months ago. ATB Steve I really like the extension but the 45 has been one of my favs since I was a kid.

Paul Anka When We Get There
Yes But thats the Uk Issue for the Northern soul market and not an original release becasue when we get there was originally issued in UK on its own and not with Cant help loving you.

Anglo Auction - Matta Baby
The thing for me is Should Tim be listing this as an auction Item and at a starting price of 400 This in my view seriously questions Tims credibility in regards to Auctions. yes its not easy to find but its neither a major rarity or in demand to even command half of that. Im just Gobsmacked how far out he is with this one!

Anglo Auction - Matta Baby
- Anglo Auction - Matta Baby
Does someone need a reality check here- The Matta baby - Do the pearl Girl - Penny Auction item starting at £400 I assume this is not a joke but close to it. Pink & Perky on Fire at this price £150 tops - For an instrumental thats rarely played out much. even if it had a revival its not worth half of the auction starting price. Me & pete Smith had a bit of a battle on Ebay once for one of these and I sold my copy a couple of years ago for around £130 Its not easy to find I admit but to be an auction item is just ridiculous IMO ID like others view ATB Steve- What's The Tune That Comes To Mind When You Lose The One You Love?
"Paris Blues" - deos it for me "Where walked was in the rain- I still walk there filled with pain! Ill never forget! - Anglo Auction - Matta Baby
