  4. I'm selling Rob. Found it today on a record digging trip in Norfolk for Andy Hackett. He's started a disco roadshow but he's short of soul tunes so asked me to find him some stuff. His next one is on Friday night at The Alliance ph in West Hampstead supporting Boz Boorer's new rockabilly band if you fancy a night out.

Maybe worth a simple google search under images - then save image to pictures/photos unless it has to be original sheet music.
  8. George Martin next to Billy Paul bottom left?
  9. Both good but If You Think You're Groovy has the Marriott - Lane stamp of quality.
  10. Reminds me of when I saw Booker T at the Bush Hall a few years back. He was promoting his new album Potato Hole and was backed by The Driveby Truckers, a band of longhairs who could rock. New album tunes sounding great and crowd getting into it when in a break between tunes someone shouts out " play what you're known for ". Some people need to stop living in the past!
  11. Cheers Rob. Popped into Rough Trade for Jeb's 45. Got the EP free as I had to go back for a replacement as the first one was scratched. Not sure about the Xmas party. If I don't see you, hope you have a great Xmas and New Year. Best Mike
  12. Decent album which includes The Kindly Shepherds and The Masonic Wonders. 17. I've not visited this thread for a while but have spent several pleasant hours over the last couple of days catching up and heard some superb tunes. Couple that stood out - Lady Wray - Do It Again ( downloaded a copy for 79p ) and Queen Yahna - Aint It Time ( added to wants list ) . As has been said before, this thread is still a great resource for hearing a variety of new tunes. I've not been buying much soul music lately but as I was in London last week visiting my daughter, I thought I'd pop in to Rough Trade and pick up a copy of this tune which I've been meaning to get for a while. Not really soul but a nice tune all the same. I also recently picked up GC Cameron's self titled album which includes Truly Blue which is a nice tune. There's scant detail about it on dftmc but I've got a feeling I read somewhere that it was recorded for a shelved Mowest album Seventh Son a few years before.
  18. Judging from Popsike, the legit release came with a push out centre. There are several of these solid centre copies on there too which have gone for £50 or thereabouts so maybe some buyers have been turned over. Presumably there isn't a manufacturer which makes records with the slip ring around the circumference of the label. That prevents realistic counterfeits of UK releases.
  19. Doesn't surprise me. Quick look on eBay shows that there are non solid centre copies of this title too. Judging from the blurb I've read on another seller's eBay site, it appears that a business model for selling this stuff involves not actually holding any stock, waiting for someone to buy and at that point, the seller purchases the 45 elsewhere and presumably arranges for his/her supplier to send direct to the purchaser. This Ebayer may not even be involved in pressing up the copies for sale.
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NORTHERN-MONSTER-MICKY-MOONSHINE-NAME-IT-YOU-GOT-IT-CHAPTER-FIVE-YOU-CANT-MEAN-/282238109605?hash=item41b6b3c7a5:g:px8AAOSwMNxXYpPy Same seller apparently bootlegging a bootleg label. Looking at his eBay feedback, 2 negatives ( one because record sent in an "iffy bag " ) out of over 466 sales over last 12 months ( 168 in last month ). A quick glance shows he's knocking them out mostly at £5.99 each so allowing overheads of at least 50% ? pretty modest profits for the hassle involved.
  21. Yep will be there. Looking forward to it!
  22. Nice one Rob. I've got David Ruffin's version of No Matter Where but I really like GC Cameron's take on it too. Foolishly didn't buy one of the several copies in Music & Video Exchange in Notting Hill Gate a few years back.
