  1. My personal fave of hers and I've heard it's also the case a few others... OK, this doesn't classify as a "northern soul" sound, but men, I bet it would work out fine in a niter and what a refreshment that would be to hear such records. Go for the flip side for a silky plaintive dramatic song well worth of a careful ear. And it's a lovely copy that is for sale here. thanks i get.mp3 Sound clip of both sides and scans from actual record for sale. PM me for details. Gradings used are M/Ex/Vg... through +/- £20 free P&P all over the world - add £6 to have it registered
  2. !!! SOLD !!! These 2 real soulful dancers on a lovely (me thinks) white demo that suffers from a big "X" as shown on scan on the 'baby it's time' side and a little label tear (sticker removal) on the 'price of love' side under the time 2:30. marshall & chi-lites.mp3 Sound clip of both sides and scans from actual record for sale. 6. Something went wrong (android or a thing like that) that makes your post unreadable and even if you can make it what it is you're selling, the price can either be 150 or 75 quid...
  7. The other way around for me. Never consider this Uptown 45 to be either that rare or in-demand to fetch above £50. But you don't see it everyday and it's a quality sound to justify a "time passage" demand for it... maybe...
  8. Huah ! Nice indeed. Plus it's not one of those ridiculous ego tripping' box set or compilation sucking poor mish-mash... Thumbs up !
  9. What is the difference in calculation between 40 years LATER or AFTER ?
  10. He says 40 years after so; 1967 + 40 that makes 2007 or about... He doesn't say anything about the flip-side credit being the Younghearts which should lead us to undertstand together with the proper credited promo copy that it was just a misprint. I think he kind of made up a theory with vague memories of those old-timers mixed-up grapevine legend...
  11. I know, agree and do that also if the record is necessary. What bothers me now is more on the political, philosophical, social and economical (not practical as such) side/turn of things in this day and age; the factual growing loss of our individual autonomies...
  12. Has the GSP FEES gone insane ? I got in touch with a seller about a $5 as a "buy it now" charging "automatically" $21 shipping to Belgium and all he could reply was that he was not aware of that. He went WOW when I sent him a screen capture of his selling page. Not worth the trouble, I just dropped out there. Now looking at another $9.99 45 RPM it's the same or a bit worse at $24 !!! I remember it being more pricey than honest dealer charging the stamps only, like $15-16... when they started the GSP. That's almost a double-up increase ! First I was thinking that it was maybe a configuration "bug" on the seller's page, but seing other seller's 7inches where GSP is used it's always $20+ !!! Now I understand that they are only charging more for a service that we do not want ! First the "internet" killed the curiosity in the record discoveries, then the EvilBay kinda killed the good old record crate digging/hunting we use to do and now they're killing one of the only way to still gather good and cheap records for reasonable money.

    What is that c**p ?
  14. I've had few purple vinyl copies over the years and the flip always played 'fight fire with fire'. Yours is most likely a mispress as one of the first run in the press... then corrected... While browsing I found this nice RARE styrene West Coast press ! WOW, I've never seen that before...
  15. Bounjour all, cheap want of this label variation that must be in top condition. PM me. Merci. Tim
  16. I also believe that they are different take. I'll stick to my first ear. It's the more "Bobby Blandesque" feel of the Kent take that makes me dig it a little bit more. But, I'll still keep my Duke 45 as well for some home spins. Sir Ady always had access to the tapes and used different takes to compile his Kent stuffs. Sometimes to make you wonder what the f**k when you're on your own with an original 45 you thought you knew so well but NOT ! Those youngster discovering days of the vinyls paralax were mesmerizing at times.
  17. Discovered 'ain't it great' on the Kent 'Sure-Shot' compilation, as this mix (girl chorus erased) which gives this tune a better fitting natural blend; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_xlp577XiE so I was a bit disappointed when I got to hear the 45... Otherwise picked up few copies of this one in Belgium for some reason (not Pop-Corn) and was a good seller with the mods; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvIqZHE5yo4
  18. Ray Pollard 'the drifter', Jimmy Radcliffe 'long after tonight is all over'... try a back-flip with those evergreens (LOL)... OK, they are/were enders, but yes, it's a music scene first. Well at least that's how I always understood it. Maybe I'm wrong in the end. Off course people can dance to it, shuffle and/or hum-sing along... And off course the deejays were in pursuit of rare soul records with a beat to dance to. The rare soul scene is/was a club music !!! Then you also have the megalomaniac opportunist (I'm being polite here) deejays who brought along the odd record to get "everybody" on the dance floor, but actually have no "soul" in them. Thats when the yank dealers tended to understand that Paul Anka is likely a "northern soul hero" !? It's a scene with deejays, dancers, collectors and punters where some are both and few others are all at the same time !!! If dance is first in "northern soul", music is second by a nano millimeter. I wouldn't dare listen just to "dance music" as such. So I went in for the music ! And I found some...
  19. And this odd one ! As to why, I don't know... Was it ever really in-demand ? This should explain why this reissue is rare than it's original counterpart. I believe it was re-released for the 'high wide and handsome' not so good side (when BPM and drugs were more important than "SOUL") while the flip side is A tuuuuune; 'you've got the making of a lover' !
  20. Original sixties one; and it's seventies reissue;
  21. Different pressing plant !
  22. Yep; and using the publishing rights (NOR-BIL) as both Elvin Spencer's credited issues !
