Keep The Faith....is It A Soul Scene Myth?
Instead of the week-in week out stuff, I gear up all year for one single event-The Hitsville Soul Club weekender in Kissimmee, FL. In the case of our weekender-that sense of comraderie is 100% there! It's a smaller event and we're all there for one reason-MUSIC! Since we all think alike, you bet we all get along. The records are impeccable and diverse in style. Just 100% original 45s/LPs all weekend. A full weekend of dancing, records, non-stop soul music, laughs, friendships and topping it all off with a plate of curry by the pool at sunset (soul sounds in the background)-what more could you want? I'll trade that one quality weekend over loads of weekly niters with putting up with people who are in for the wrong reasons. -Jas

Just Wondering
Hi Lou Hope you and Woody had a good nite on Saturday, thats what we mean you'd travel to see a certain dj coz of the records that they play or have but dont always get the chance as you have quoted in your other reply. I agree about the amount of people that have some great tunes but never get the chance to play them out which is why we have people like Kit on at Holmes Chappel for the first spot, and dont forget your doing the first spot in August, am looking forward to that. See you soon. Sharon

Some of these replies have still left us wondering, there's 29 replies on this thread but only a few named dj's that you would travel to see. We do travel to see certain dj's but looks like were the exception rather than the rule. Sharon

At one time we would travel to see certain dj's play but of late that dosnt seem to be the case we were just wondering who you would travel to see, oldies dj past & present, upfront dj's again past & present and crossover dj's. Also any collectors you would travel to see. Andy Rix, Carl Willingham, Dave Flynn, Alex Jones, Phil Threlfall to name but a few.

News Flash
Pat Well said I've known loads of male dj's borrow from their mates, and as for they are all the hubby's records, bollox most households have joint incomes these days dont know many women that sit on their arse all day at home while their hubby/partner is out earning the money to buy all these records and most of the collections will have records in that the wife like's, just becuase the men have got more patience to stand looking through records boxes or has more time to spend looking through record lists etc dosn't mean that the women dont know what's in the boxes. Sorry guys just my point of view. Sharon S

We are trying to get in touch with old mate's that we used to go to Wigan etc with their names are Ste (nick name Sue) & Louise Proctor from Preston. I dont think that they are together anymore but would like to contact both. As we are off to the soul nite in Preston tonight it gets you thinking I wander what happend to them. Not seen them at any soul nites for a long time in fact not sure if either of them go anywhere now but if anyone knows any contact numbers for either we'd be grateful or if anyone can let them know we are trying to get in touch that would be great. Thanks in advance Kev & Sharon Spittle- Trends - Not Too Old To Cry
