  1. I hope it's not a snipe at you steve ! I'll vouch for you, apart from being a nice all round fella, good on the mike, you play some blindin tunes...mello souls, magnetics, hamilton movement, margaret littles to name but a few, so why would you ever want to play any vinyl carver look a likes
  2. Stuck on your forehead is it?

Hello Baz, This is a very, very long shot, but do you by any chance mean the Jay Walkers - I got my own thing going - Selsom ? That has green with black stripes on the label, but it does have yellow as well. pottsy.
  4. I went to a do a couple of months ago, one of the dj's had been to somewhere like vinyl carvers & had a few tracks cut onto each side of the record, but he must have forgot to write the titles & artists on, so on the mike we heard...."This is...errrrm..track two. This must be track three..." Come on mate get a grip, you know who you are, we pay good money to come into your do!
  5. So, from what you have said here, you're not knocking oldies do's, just the one's that have dj's that insist on playing vinyl carver jobs with laser copied labels on shock..horror or worse still, cd's. Cant argue with that. There's nothing worse than carting your original vinyl to a do, then to have the dj before you play half your set on boots. That can be a bit frustrating I must admit. I do think that dj's should mix their sets up. I dont think they should play a whole hour of unfamiliar sounds. I find that boring. pottsy.
  6. Hi Paul, Just a thought. I'm ignorant to the ins & outs of your business, I was just wondering, what kind of percentage, if any, do you take from the artists returns? You're painting yourself as being a guardian of these artists, is this the case? This is in no way any kind of dig at you, just be interesting to know. Regards, Ady.
  7. Terry, what intrigues me is you keep saying about places like lifeline & progressive venues, yet you collect u.k. pressed oldies. not knocking that for a second as so do i. but was just wondering...lets say you were at a venue somewhere, the d.j. was playing things like Chubby Checker, Tony Middleton, H.Lands etc. you turn round to your mates & say sod this & go up to the decks to have a moan, but you're confronted by a d.j. playing from a box full of mint u.k., would you tell him to get a life? or say blindin set mate? Just a thought
  8. This sounded the business sat. night down Hitchin. When you look at it in perspective, we're seeing some boots making more than fifty quid now.
  9. That was nice to see him again. I always liked the way Derek d.j'd, so much energy, the way he'd be bobbin up & down behind the decks to the record he was playing, & the way he would sing away on the mike to a tune he loved, always had a smile on his face when he was d.j'ing. I miss him
  10. be interesting to see them.
  11. Oh, so that was a good guess then. I'd like to see that clip of the Hytones on their own Pete, if that's possible.
  12. I would lay odds on this was recorded very close to the Hytones - You dont even know my name. Listen to the backing, trumpets etc. Wonder if the Hytones are the backing group on this footage? Plus they are both on the Bell..."Bill Justice productions presents"...design of label, if I remember correctly. Bet the label numbers are close. Oh dear, another useless deduction from pottsy

I would say the Golden Triangle copy was released in 1970/71 at about the same time as the Free Angela L.P. Larry Saunders was trying to raise money for the black panther Angela Davis' defence fund, as she'd been banged up in prison.
  14. Ah, gotcha Chris, thank's for that.
  15. I'm confused now, so has the Jimmy Burns 12" got 2 tracks on one side by him and Two Bobby Jones on the other then?
  16. cheers for that drew, i appreciate it
  17. Andy mate, you've left me with no more nails to chew, I just love these kind of deals, just dont keep me in suspense much longer, I must go to the post office before it shuts
  18. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Nov 28 2006, 01:51 PM) link For some reason, it won't work to upload a scan today. But you can download a scan of the 12" here: https://realsoul.net/jimmy_12.jpg And here's the 7": https://realsoul.net/jimmyBurns.jpg Best, Christian I see the credits got changed then, bet Easton & Irwin weren't happy.
  19. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Nov 28 2006, 01:38 PM) link Yes, there is a 12" featuring a 'remix', which was done by Barry Despenza in 1980 (I believe). I'll try to find the sound file tonight. Have it on CD somewhere. Seem to remember that it's not that different from the 7" on Dispo though. Cheers Christian, Would like to hear it. Seems like Mr. Despenza was a dab hand at squeezing an extra buck out of a tune.
  20. I know what the Jimmy Burns - I Can't Get Over - Dispo on 7" sounds like, but someone said there's a later 12" cut of it. Is this true? Anyone have a sound clip of it, please? pottsy
