I agree with you Ian. Exactly right.
  4. What are you saying about Seven Sisters sadsam? Not that "Body music" place surely?
  5. Think it really started with the later days of Stafford 85-86? So slightly earlier than Simon
  6. Insurance for records Joan. Please don't tell me you don't have it?
  7. Glad you got them back. Really good news. And glad it is not an "inside job" but just scuzzos. PS: please don't leave credit cards in your car.
  8. Sean why do you only feel you were ahead of your time. You clearly were m8.
  9. Terrible news to hear that we still have thiefs amongst us (I assume it wasn't just some passing yobs). I hope you get your records back, the thief is caught, named, and punished.
  10. Yes I collected UK People too (and Action). That was a radio promo 45 "Action music for action People", and "People music for soul people"......quite well done in a 70s sort of way.
  11. Still got them all - think I have one missing Arctic (Chains of love), a couple of missing Lomas, a few missing Wands etc, one missing Golden World, but got most of everything else. My collecting has slowed down a bit, but I have quite a few records
  12. I am a bit of a label nut - I think it comes from being a colleptomaniac. Off the top of me head that I have done - Wand, Loma, Glades, Alston, Minit, Golden World, ric Tic, Revilot, Motown etc, Beverly Glen, Arctic, MPac, Onederful, Bunky, Barry, Top & Bottom, Phil La, Philly Groiove, Phil Intl, Salsoul, Stax (US and UK), Volt, westbound, MGM (SOM), Goldwax, Invictus, Hot Wax, Janus, KoKo, Magic Touch, Venture, O'Keh, Red(d) Coach, Sound Stage 7, 77, Truth, Virtue, Innovation 2, Black gold, Vigor, Capsoul etc etc.....I could go on.
  13. Yeah but Ady was asking how many people, not how many records. Our yoof club was the same - sometimes you had to badger the DJ!
  14. Yes - read Ady's question Tezza. "how many people were fans of Northern Soul to any degree" - that to me includes the kids in the youth clubs doing the Footsee etc
  15. No but I have come home to find my 2 year old son has decided to take all of my albums out of their covers and crayon on them.
  16. You shouldplay it because it's good.....but is it? - not so sure.
  17. Hmmm a pretty rare one this. Kind of like it but have never played it out.....
  18. My how tholse Cosbee "Gimp masks" have caught on with the northern crowd
  19. Always popular on the dancefloor that one. gOOD luck a great dancer.
  20. Hi ya Sean. It is an aquired taste, and it will grow on you - it has a certain charm even if he is a bit off key. Works a treat in Europe too.
  21. £20-£30 but make sure you get the right mix.
  22. Yeah but every youth club had a northern soul element that emerged from the shadows when a DJ spun some northern - I am counting these in my guestimate Terry. Not just your died in the wool nighter guys.
  23. Hmm depends what time I guess. When NS was in the Sun etc and Footsee was in the charts, probably 10-15,000. But that's a wild guess.

Well it really depends Bearsy, be as brave as you can, but don't clear the floor for an hour. It also depends on the time you are on. Peak time then I think you have got to make a mark with the dancing crowd without having to resort to things like Mel Britt. Early doors you can be more adventurous. If DJing at a venue you haven't been to before, take a broader selection of sounds.
