  1. I understand it's "The Wigan Joker" by the All Night Band.....
  2. I also think BB was on a tape?
  3. I think with the limited run on this and seeing what happened to the CD put out in the early 90's (last time I looked over £100), anyone with a missing record would be better placed to try and find a trade on here from someone with a surplus copy.....sending it back and you'll probably get a credit note, when what tyou really want is the record.
  4. Note to self: Ignore post. Resist temptation to reply.
  5. As far as I know Elaine & Co are currently seeking a distributor who'll put the film in cinemas. I also heard that Steve Coogan plays a small role as a schoolteacher, so don't worry, he's not a northern soul dancer.

    Tosh!
  7. Yes will edit it….
  8. Agreed Chalky….it has to be an album only track, or a missing major label number like Don Varner on Veep or something we thought only existed on acetate……Anything else would be a disappointment now…..

The problem wasn't Wigan - I am sure most of us who went had great nights there - first time was awesome etc. I even liked "Love Hustle" when I first heard Minshull spin it, until I discovered what it really was ……The problem is what the legacy of Wigan Casino became. The fact that it is trotted out as being the only true NS club, everything died when Wigan closed etc. The refusal to move on, or accept or recognise that the scene has moved on. That's what gets peoples goat up.
  10. OK keep the thread going lads, mine hasn't arrived yet, but if it has two Originals in it I'll gladly swap one for a B McNeir….etc…that way no losers.
  11. Since it changed to "classic" I tend to agree with you Simon…Lorraine will be disappointed I know that….
  12. Hey loosen up you crabs that are moaning about this thread, it's only a bit of fun trying to guess what it might be.
  13. The JM tease has changed to: The world’s RAREST Northern Soul Classic ORIGINAL! That rather changes the direction of play then....
  14. Yes I reckon so, the only Pete Garris sourced record to appear on Wand was the first one on Garrison "Humphrey Stomp"....all the later ones were put on Garris's own label.

It's OK as a pop record but nothing special.Still a fascinating story behind it I am sure. Book: Written, been swamped at work so need to find time to search out a literary agent to get it to a publisher.

Oh man there are hundreds and hundreds of them....a thread that can run and run all the way to Dec 25.... I did a radio show featuring all Xmas records once (at Christmas obviously) and people started ringing in to complain saying "why are you playing all this Xmas sh*t, play some rare soul Steve!"
  18. Not that it's directly related but I heard Edward Hamilton wasn't even 15 when he made "Baby don't you weep"

Paul, I don't see how you can compare a record produced by Gene Chandler, on a black owned record label, by two bona fide soul singers in the same breath as Jo's Boxers or the Masionettes? You've lost me completely there. Yes it's catchy, yes it's poppy, but so are a lot of records. Not sure on a forum that regularly features people foaming at the mouth over some truly crap records, there is a quality measure we're supposed to limit our postings too. No one is saying it's a rare soul gem or the best record ever made. Right I'm off to do some research on Paula Parfitt....Essex girl wasn't she?
  20. Sorry but I mark Chalky right on this. Plenty of records never got beyond demo on major labels. Ever seen one Bob?
  21. You are showing your age now Ian Haven't heard that one mentioned for years….
  22. No, true but a non soul collector in Plymouth finds one in a box of non soul material……so what's he to do? I know JM Auction…..gets rich in time for Xmas...
  23. There's one on Loma I need to dig out….another shocker…. Also got a rock record on Malaco somewhere in the garage.
  24. Hi James, how many copies of the "known" Little John?
  25. Nope, this doesn't exist sorry….. Some chance Rupe…..she might bid on it herself though…..thinking of selling the jewellery etc….
