  1. True. But surely to write a piece (in an authoritative tone) on h2g2 would require the prerequisite of actually knowing what you're talking about .?
  2. Yeah BBC got their finger on the pulse; "Waterman had a history as a Northern Soul DJ, following its development in US clubs into disco and then Hi-NRG, and had a vision of a British equivalent of Motown, producing uplifting, working-class dance music; female factory worker-type music in a production line style." https://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A493661

    Good question, feckin liberty if it ain't! Must have been a damn good impersonator to convince all those folk at that do. You seen swons?

    Assume Kenny Burrell is okay then as there is film footage of Frank Wilson signing his £15k single
  9. Shaun may have aged well looking at Jon's pic (below). I'll say nothing of Mick. But what caught my eye was the minty whiteness of the 100 sign behind them. A billion fags have turned it a darker shade of beige since ..
  10. If your going to fleece people, be easier to be a pickpocket (or sim) I would have thought?

    Although he did 'a couple of bits', I wouldn't call Johnny Mathis a soul star. In his younger years though he was a basket ball player, high jumper & runner.
  12. I agree with most of what you say Bazza. Dancing based on expression and timing of the beat, maketh a good dancer overall ioo eh? Acrobatics are a part of NS though and they do look good. Old Keb can dance as well as do the flips and twist etc. (See clip below.) Fact is we can't do the old flips & twists shite, so go and shuffle over there ..
  13. Didn't know that was on Grapevine, was booted as well. Thought Lester Tipton was quite a toughie ...
  14. Yeah superb, was on Sky not so long back. Think Chalky got the twin box set out of Morrison's bargain bucket for two quid or sommat silly. Boot sale find. Thank you very much Cheers.
  15. Four Tops were fantastic no doubt. Badly after an mp3 of 'Is there anthing that I can do'. They were due to fly on the ill-faited Pan Am Lockerbie flight, but fortunately missed it. However the Temptations in their prime, were imo untouchable .. One for the fence sitters;
  16. Have to agree with Dante 100%. For me the Temps original lineup were the best male soul group fullstop. Had the whole package. Lineup-wise in that clip, I'd go for the Tops tho ...
