  1. Then I presume Jerry of Jerry and Willa, probably G. Billups as you suggest.
  2. I assume the label was owned Frank Bendinelli and Leroy Lovett, Ben Lee Productions.
  3. I’ve yet to get the new Lp. I was hoping it would be available on vinyl too.
  4. Damn that Timmion for doing the Northern Soul lot out of some resale money 😂
  5. The label colour is irrelevant. If from same master they are all first issue. Every popular release has several, indeed many sets of stampers. Do you all think a million seller is from same set of stampers? It is quite obvious with many of you lot that enjoying the music is secondary.
  6. Listening to the fabulous flippers other tracks they could well both be the same group. Different style but there is a similarity. If they are the same why the name change for an act that was pretty popular going by the accounts on t’internet, and there is a few.
  7. site note - link temp edited due to malware warning
  8. I’m not saying it was 62. More like 64/5. The story about him laying down is also one told about Marvin later
  9. I would imagine recorded between 1962 when he was at Checkmate and 1964 when he joined the Temptations. Steve Mancha was released in 1965.
  10. It only seems to exist with the northern soul lot, everyone else couldn’t give one. It is often someone with an agenda who pushes the ovo thing.
  11. I didn’t see it untill the topic was resurrected
  12. Well why didn’t you just say that rather than “the exansion lp is the original”. We wouldn’t have all this crap then.
  13. I don’t think they have said how many are or have been pressed except when they got pressure for more. Maybe they should just press enough in the first place. The onlynissue I’ve been told is storage but another 500 copies is a few boxes that take up little roon once stacked. They, and other labels have had some idea of the demand before the or a 45 was pressed and so should have done a 1000 or whatever in hindsight. The additional cost is relatively small and doesn’t take too many sales to recoup from what I can see once artwork etc is paid for I also think outlets should restrict purchases tomone per customer, I know some do and have. That would stop much of the exploitation.
  14. But if it was a 60s compiliation with a big northern favourite it would be frowned upon by most. The original is the original source of a track, in this case download. The Lp the first reissue, the 45 the second. But does it really matter, they are all original and anyone who frowns upon one or the other needs to give their head a wobble. The group would be shaking their heads in disbelief to see all this bollox about one or the other being the original. Just enjoy the music for once, however you buy it.
  15. Towanda/Gloria, you can hear the hurt and anger, not just in the vocals but the backing too. This is just too...well , nice if you get my drift.
  16. I’ve noticed a fair bit of levelling off the last couple of years for certain stuff, more high end stuff. Although some lower end stuff is fetching more than it shoud be. The whole market is still totally skewered price wise mind.
  17. Irving Coleman, John Wynn, Roger Phillips, Ronald McLaughlin, Tyrone McCullough. a list of all Boba’s interviews in this link...
  18. That is certainly a boot, its the Lp. I thought this was the one Blackpoolsoul was referring to?
  19. Probably forgotten by then mate and a large proportion were recent to the scene. Lots of forgotten stuff, or records that hadn’t had their day (but known to collectirs maybe) were dusted off and covered up. All a game really just to stay ahead or try for a week or two.
  20. You have the wrong cover up title etc. Geraldine Jones & The Floorshakers was the cover up for Margie Hendrix - One Room Paradise - Mercury. Paulette was covered as Patti J & Contacts.
  21. Forgot that, read it when BobA published it and listened to the interview too
  22. Was he actually a member? They were formerly Walter & Admerations, Green Berets etc.
  23. Found much later than the Mecca, would be in the 90s when found.
  24. I think Mark refers to the new LP not previous 45s.
  25. Rough Trade exclusive I think.
