To say vinyl has had its day is just plain ridiculous. Deman has never been so high and the same for the prices. There has never been so many events and certainly never been so many Djs. Vinyl is here for some time yet. All events use and highlight tne Dj to promote that event. A Dj is booked for what he has to offer, real or not, yes some are you scratch my back etc. It is a scene that revolves (no pun intended) around a piece of vinyl, not a laptop or mp3 Once upon a time the Djs weren’t named as the music was first and foremost, not anymore. Until that changes and the names become secondary or irrelevant then vinyl will remain.

It ahs just about always been about rarity and still is. If a record was considered common it was largely ignored. It was always about exclusivity. I know of records being played off acetates/emis/carvers, call them what younwish, in the 80s because the record was somrare, one only in some cases and in the hands of a collector. He gave permission to have a copy cut. You would never have heard it otherwise. That isn’t the case today with most of the records in hands of Djs and rarity not the issue it was once upon a time.

Richard Searling Book - Setting The Record Straight - News
All good mate. I would be better if I wasn’t working 🙄😕 Richard is positive he played it at Wigan.

But we are ‘t attending a party or wedding where the Dj and the format are pretty much irrelevant. We are a scene based on the Dj and what they have to offer. Until the Dj becomes irrelevant then the format should and will take centre stage.

OVO is a load of bollox I agree. It is another pointless term on a scene full of pigeon holes. BUT if I am travelling and paying good money to get into a venue the last thing I expect is Billy bootleg deceiving the paying customer. If someone wishes to play boots then so be it but advertise the fact then those who are paying get a choice whether to support or not.

It was 81 when they turned up. Suspicion etc first got aired in the backroom of a SASofGB niter in Manchester, October that year. Stafford when they were unleased fully by Dave. Must have been late on at Wigan when LSH got played by Richard.

Its a well know oldies now surely. Gary Rushbrooke spin, may have been back end of Wigan, certainly early 80s post wigan, Stafford, Oddfellows etc. Would never have been played in Mr M’s as it wasn’t an oldie then and totally wrong kinda record.

Why do you need wave files? Surely if playing a digital format mp3 will suffice?

Revilot 208 Jackey Beavers I Need My Baby. Why so rare?
I'm not one of those who believe because it is on the internet it must be true but this comment was from someone who had no involvement, one who simply bought the record, he had no claims about his involvement to make.

Bob Relf, Bob and Earl, Bobby Garrett
Other label owners were getting requests from UK people for records to be released.

He wouldn't be the first label owner to run a press of a release at the behest of someone on the scene. Major Bill was another. If it is from the label owner and has the stamp of Artisan he was using the original plates.

Revilot 208 Jackey Beavers I Need My Baby. Why so rare?
BTW from what I can see this had plays by Richard late 79 into 80. I presume it came via John Anderson at Soul Bowl?

Again Artisan isn't a pressing plant, it was a studio and a mastering company. Once mastered some other company did the pressing. Is Michel Soussan related to Simon? Those with he Artisan mastering stamp are originals.

Revilot 208 Jackey Beavers I Need My Baby. Why so rare?
58 miles between the two towns Robb, not too far really. About the same again to Detroit isn't it? I agree with what you say, no local action or support and company simply moved on. As the company moved on so did Jackey.

Bob Relf, Bob and Earl, Bobby Garrett
No it isn't. I have already said above it is for the studio & mastering company Artisan Sound Recorders, not the pressing plant.

@Rick Cooper There was tracks left in the can at Revilot. Just a few months later though he was recording for Grandland and not so long after his own label Jaber.
