Most definitely. I try and source everything in the UK nowadays it even with the increase in postage it can be cheaper to purchase from the US, particularly LPs. This and the fact many US sellers now declare the value means we get hit at customs as well.

It can take years for a record to eventually make it "big" nationwide or shall I say gain exposure to a wider audience. One of the records you mentioned which you claimed to be a Burnley sound and not an oldie was played many years before by at least two other Dj's and in that respect is a bit of an oldie and was widely known by those who attended the 100 Club, Lifeline and other venues the two said Dj's appeared. Was it Cliff who played it at Burnley? He no doubt, knowing Cliff, had it tucked away for years before giving it turntable action. This and the fact it is an obscure and tough to find record make it hard to gain wider exposure on the scene. Butch's Parliaments another example. It wasn't until the likes of Sam and Mick got copies and played it up an down the country that it broke nationwide,I could give other examples but it would be pointless. As for who cares who played what first, many do, I for one like to see respect and credit where it is due. As for playlists most no longer post them not just because they get picked apart but because all the lazy sods then go and hoover up the records listed that said Dj has worked hard to find, put the hours in, if they wanna know what a DJ plays go out and listen to them.

Legally? I can never understand why thy release films etc at different times. Been out in the US since March. Does nothing but increase illegal downloading for those that can't get it. I will sky plus it as out Saturday.

If you are looking for a particular record and it is on Discogs it will always be near the top of the search results. You usually get a few choices as well. It is also a great resource with all the details about the recording.

Eddie Daniels on Boots is a tough one, very rare as well.

Delrays is easy to tell compared to the real one unless of course you don't know the difference but that is the same for any boot, they are all good if you are non the wiser.

I disagree most records, especially common records have a rough price, give or take a bit...but over 50% plus more? When all recent sales (set sales that is) have been less than £60 including a demo, for one to fetch £125 a week or so later says to me someone hasn't done his or her homework or have enough money they can't be bothered to take a few days to look round. Again it's an auction price and maybe the red mist descended on the bidders? I neither want this or have one to sell so have no axe to grind, I'm certainly not jealous. There is a percentage of people distorting the market. Now everyone will want £100 plus for this now when it simply isn't worth it, IMO of course.

You are probably right but do UK sellers not checkout competition? Almost to a record, very seller outside the UK is cheaper than the UK seller on Discogs. I would much prefer to do my trading in this country but when LP's are twice the price and more than European and US dealers then I will do my buying with them.

I agree the postage is too much from the states but even with the extra it is usually cheaper than a UK dealers copy. There is a record advertised on here at £40. On Discogs there is one at $14.99, just under a tenner, even with postage it is still half the uk price.

Why are uk sellers of Lp's in particular far more expensive than European and US dealers. Even with postage they often work out cheaper to buy from abroad. There was one Lp on here last week that I wanted and there were five copies on Discogs half the Uk sellers price or less. Do they want to sell, are they in it for what they can get out of it? This wasn't or isn't an isolated case either, time after time Uk sellers on Discogs are near the bottom of he list for sale.

This should be 30/40 quid, maybe twice as much for the demo. There was a demo offered on here other week for £55. Some people just aren't prepared to do either any homework and look for a valuation or even look for a copy at the right or a reasonable price.

Maybe so but this has always been played. It isn't rare by any stretch of the imagination.

I shall be at the Stables on Saturday for Lifeline (blatant plug) and there is nothing sterile about that place. Plenty of great venues about although there are some places that need a bulldozer. Dunno why most promoters feel we are more than happy shit holes with flea bitten seating. The Wilton is one of the best venues I've been in, nice clean and ideal for an all-nighter.
