Tony Award Winner and 4 time Grammy nominee. In the beginning, Melba’s Stepfather pianist, (Clement Moorman) introduced her to several agents which eventually landed her a role in the cult classic musical Hair. Melba went on to land the lead role in Purlie. Ms Moore also appeared alongside the iconic Eartha Kitt in the musical Timbuktu and landed the lead role of Fantine, in the acclaimed musical Les Miserables. Although Ms. Moore enjoyed working on Broadway, she didn’t want to forget about her first love…music. Deciding to focus more on her recording career, she made her recording debut on Mercury Records with “I Got Love”, followed by “Look What You’re Doing To The Man”. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best New Artist.’ Numerous Grammy nominations, recordings, and television shows, including her own variety show entitled The Melba Moore-Clifton Davis Show, followed. Melba scored a string of Billboard Charted hits with songs like “This Is It” and “You Stepped Into My Life”. Ms Moore continued to enjoy great success musically with such chart topping songs as “Love’s Comin’ At Ya,” “Keepin’ My Lover Satisfied,” “Living For Your Love,” “Read My Lips,” which she received a Grammy nomination for ‘ Best Female Rock Vocal’. She had two Billboard #1 hit singles for “Falling” and “A Little Bit More,” a duet with Freddie Jackson. Ms. Moore later released “Soul Exposed” which featured a stellar version of “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. It featured such artists as Freddie Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Jeffrey Osborne, Lou Gossett Jr., Bobby Brown, Anita Baker, and Stephanie Mills. More recently, Ms. Moore starred with Beyonce and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the motion picture “The Fighting Temptations”. Presently, she is working on an autobiography with professor and former New York Times writer Mel Watkins detailing her achievements over the span of her career. Melba Moore returns to the UK by popular demand to perform hits from the past present and future and with a very special guest to be announced via www.soulgigs.com the dates are highly anticipated. Melba and Melisa will be appearing at Manchester's Band on The Wall on Sunday 5th May 2013 (Bank Holiday Weekend). Tickets can be purchased at http://bandonthewall.org/events/3895/ with a discount for early birds.
  2. His name and address is on the eBay listings, he's well known in the game as well.
  3. I thought it was longer than that? Shame though Keith was a great bloke.
  4. I think Ady Pountain had the first 12 inch, that's what I was told.
  5. Ok I've five tapes left of Alan T's (Tomo) from Yarmouth in 1990/91. The date isn't known but again it's the radio show of one of the weekenders atb the beginning of the 90's. Ady C kicks this one off, he asks for Steve Porter I think, anyone remember him? I think Jon Buck is at the end but I've got to listen again to double check. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/yarmouth-northern-soul-weekender-memories-1/
  6. It's worth buying for the LP only "It's Up To You" but there's at least 4 other great tracks on it, best £8 you can spend today.
  7. Swan flight will also make a box to the size you want if they don't already do it.
  8. Although it was actually played by Pat Brady first before he sold it to Keb.

Someone put a want up for early issues of manifesto, I have some here if interested and reading this. September 94 issue 1 through to issue 7 then a bit patchy with issue numbers, some must have got lost in house moves etc.
  10. I did delete the LP bit to try and avoid confusion. Aren't some of the RCA acetates real ones? Didn't Ady have a mate at RCA he knew from early days in London, is that how he got in? Will have to read the booklet again for the RCA CD releases. Back on topic. Must be just me but I'm not a big fan of the record. Don't dislike it but can take it or leave it and agree with Phil the 45 has it right, the LP take just goes on too long.
  11. The deadwax on the miss-pressed Willie Small on Essica is 401-A "Say You Will" and 3135 IRC/45 on "The Living End" side. Both scratched in.
  12. Benji, I wasn't arguing about it and wouldn't have mentioned it again if Steve hadn't steamed in. I don't care if you play it out or what you do with it, only questioned it in the first place as you called all the others dubious but not yours. As for Ady, I've no wish to cast aspersions and accuse someone of doing something when I don't know the facts. I would presume with Kent having the license at the time to issue the RCA material they were free to do whatever in the name of promotion?
  13. The LP has the engineers notes and was done by RCA, I don't and haven't doubted the LP test presses' authenticity. The question I asked if you read it properly was about Benji's custom made acetate. I doubt RCA gave permission for a private acetate to be cut. Just because it came from the engineer it don't mean he had the right to do someone a custom acetate. It's about as legit as any of the other so called "bogus" acetates that are kicking about, just better quality because of the source. I think Benji has confirmed as much in his reply.
  14. Does that make it different then? It's no more legit really?
  15. Swan-flight.
  16. Is it an acetate or proper vinyl the Lp? Just he one isn't there known about.
  17. Yes Benji it was Gary Spencer cover up, certainly long before Carl and Stevie. Not sure if Gary played it first. It's not hard to like the flip more though, "Picture" is terrible.
  18. Here's scans of the acetate that was ebayed a couple of years ago....
  19. R.I.P. Mel and thanks for the memories.
  20. I was thinking the same. It is hard to put a price on a record where only half dozen or so are known to be owned by collectors over here, especially one that is so wanted by so many other collectors. But the price this has commanded and indeed sold for, dealer to buyer, is I would have thought the bench mark, not half that figure?
  21. Thought Mick got his from Phil? Sam got his from Andy D.
  22. On an Associated Acetate. Was a third but that was broken into little pieces.
  23. Good price too.

Yellow copy is the same. R-5619 881201-A R-5620 881201-B I would imagine they were pressed very close to each other. One being a second run after the first sold or they ran out of one colour label.
