Like I said Callum, this issue as old as ebay and email chat groups/soul forums....all you can do is bid what you think it is worth to you, if others have more money than sense then that is up to them at the end off the day. Plenty more fish in the sea as they say

I don't think you will ever stop people talking about live ebay auctions, or any other for that matter. People are on here to talk about the scene and records and this issue has been about as long as soul forums and ebay have been about, right back to the old e-mail based chat groups.

All you can do is bid what you think a record is worth. I doubt Soul Source has too much influence in what happens on ebay, yes some will pick up on an auction because of talk on here but it's usually top end stuff most will know about. It's the stuff Benji mentions that are misplaced in other sections you don't want highlighting.

Charles Johnson has been known about a long time. Andy Dyson had it long tome ago, sold one to Karl Heard and along with Ted was spinning the disc all over so it was bound to get noticed and fetch big money the next time it came available. It's happened for years that way with current indemanders. As for Vivian Jones can't see what the fuss is all about, it's not great is it, average light weight (as Joel called it) R&B As for posting ebay links, well the Vivian Jones is in the box at side of forum and most who watch bay will know about it or will do so buy time the auction ends. Besides how do you expect Mods to moderate ebay links if discussion of live auctions was banned? We have enough to do as it is at times.

I don't keep funds in my account, or not enough so yes it does cost me to use the gift option. Usually it comes from my CC. The gift option is used so the seller avoids any fees or costs. If you deal for a living the cost of ebay and paypal fees should be incorporated into the cost of the sale and not expect buyers to pay extra if they have insufficient funds in their account. Now I'm aware of the consequences of the "gift " option I don't think I will be using it unless I trust the seller. What does it cost a seller if the "goods" option is used?

There's usually bugger all in my account and I'm pretty sure when I've used 'gift' it has cost me. I've only used "gift" option with people I know.

I'd be even more wary now that this "loophole" has been highlighted Why do sellers not just add a percentage or meet the buyer halfway and use "goods'. It costs the buyer extra to use paypal as gift!

Be honest, was it ever likely to be genuine? The first time I saw the listing on ebay it looked like a fake, it shouted out boot!! The more looked into and the more it was discussed it looked even more like a fake. the label, the fact that neither was released as a 45 Stateside, one in the UK and the other French/Italian. they were from different sessions, so why would they be on a studio acetate in the states?

Yes but liberty as shown in other topic use their own acetates they wouldn't send a track to New York. Look at the other evidence. All points to a fake.

I don't think I've ever seen a record listed as z boot. eBay don't allow the word boot that's why they use reissue. 70s press I'd misleading, it gives it some sort of legitimacy. Reissue would have been a better word. Sad thing is someone will probably pay the money.

I would file a dispute with eBay/paypal if the seller refuses to play ball.

From the scans at the time of the sale it looks like a fake IMO. Liberty wouldn't use audiodisc in new York especially being a west coast company. Delores is if memory serves me correctly a European release only, doubt it was done at same session as It'll Never Be Over For Me and therefore doubt it would be on same acetate. If it was me I would file a claim. You could always be cheeky and use the size as an issue. You can get acetates done at various places on the net. Have you got it now? How new does it look? It looked pretty new from the scans.

well I've just looked at one with 4 bids. Under the bid now box it says the minimum bid, that's without even entering an amount. on this one it tells you $44.00 or more so why would you bid $43.88 for instance?
