Soul Loyalty Cards
But ten pounds for an all-nighter, 10 hours of music, isn't expensive in today's market IMO. It has been that price as I said for some years so the paying customer is still getting a good deal if you ask me. I can't afford to go out to the extent I did but I choose my noights out now rather than go out for the sake of it to a sub-standard night like I used to. I agree petrol does have a bearing on the full cost of the night out. I do understand the arguement that others in this topic are making but I wonder if they truly understand how cheap they have had it all these years and the true cost of putting on an all-nighter with a top dj line up? As for taking your own alcohol....this is having an effect on promoters with venue owners seeing what is going on and they aren't happy. The beer sales is usually where the owner makes his money, there is no wonder venues for all-nighters are getting harder to come by with venue owners preferring to make do with a "normal" night due to the sales in alcohol is far greater than if they allowed an all-nighter, staff costs are down too with the reduced hours. I really doubt whether a discount can be afforded....I don't know what sort of discount is being sought in this topic, seen BOGOF mentioned but there is no way IMO a promoter could afford that, not an all-nighter promoter anyway. The promoter would almost certainly be out of pocket. Would a quid or two really make any difference to peoples thinking? It wouldn't mine.

I've played it out but the one that really does it for me is I Can't Take It No More. Been playing this out, getting noticed and a good reaction. I put them up in refosoul last year.

Trouble At Niters
Ady has posted before but couldn't remember the full tale. From memory sure he said Pete Wid came from under the table as it kicked off and as he came up from under the table stuck the nut on one of 'em.

Flashback - Derek Martin
First I've heard??? Well I've never heard Andy or Rob spin it. Butch and Richard Searling got the only acetates as far as I was aware. Maybe Andy will confirm if he does have it when he reads it. The cd it is on is highly recommended. 13 unissued tracks with at least 4 or 5 of them top notch!

Carvers
as they aren't on the scene doesn't worry me and if something did ever surface you entrusted with them then people would soon know and I doubt they would get much business after.

The numbers weren't down cause there was no discount for loyalty. The numbers down probably because of choice, the choice to go somewhere else and the amount of venues being promoted. There aren't enough people to go round all the venues so maybe the promoters are the ones at fault, well the ones who put on a night so them and their mates can dj regardless of the damage they may be doing to the scene both locally and nationally, I've said it before they don't look at the bigger picture and don't care about it...as long as they are massaging their own ego giving his or her mates a set so they can get one in return they don't give a flying f*ck. Discounts aren't the answer it is the amount of venues, plain and simple. You don't go out for the sake of loyalty...you go out cause you want to and soul is something you love. You don't get discount down the town in the local nightclub so why should you expect discount cause you are going to a soul venue? I've said it before we should really be paying more these days not less. It's been a regulation fiver for a soul night and tenner for a nighter for some years now yet the costs promoters incurr haven't gone down, the opposite infact. I've not seen punters actually dipping into their pockets to give the promoter who has had a bad night a bit extra Why should the punter expect a discount cause they've been going out for years? I've had little time off since the mid 80's but I would never ever expect a discount because of this nor do I begrudge paying a tenner for doing something I love. It's a privelege IMHO. Times are hard for everyone, punter and promoter alike.

This week's Manship results perlease
£300 is stupidity in my book.....always one for sale somewhere. Its gone from a £30/£40 price tag to ridiculous amounts purely on the back of it being played by a couple of top dj's. The price certainly nothing to do with rarity.

Trouble At Niters
I haven't read all the topic but has the story of when the Wigan Rugby League Club went to the Casino and got a kicking been mentioned? Think it was Ady C that told it best.

Values Please
you often see them for around the £40/£50 mark on average but certain ones do fetch a bit more. The Chuck Jackson has fetched a 3 figure sum on one auction, not that I'd rate it that much, maybe a couple of over excited bidders pushing the price up. I doubt it's no rarer than any of the others as I'm pretty sure the same sort of quantities pressed of each. The flip of the Teardrops, Chubby Checker - You can't lose something you never had is the best side for me...actually Jimmy Radcliffe.

Hi Nev, know you wasn't having a go...I was just making the point that the average weekly monthly all-nighter makes very little money and to offer discounts would ultimately have an effect on the quality, cheaper inferior DJ's for instance. Matt's point of which I agree is people shouldn't need any incentive......and my other point was it is cheap to attend a soul venue as it is when compared to other nights out.

Snapped Record.......devastated
Was Djing earlier this year, took out the Attractions - Why Shouldn't A Man Cry to play....well I took out half of the record as the other half still in the sleeve

Soul Loyalty Cards
I agree Matt, you shouldn't need an incentive. Nev congratulated the topic starter as it shows they care (or words to that effect). Don't the promoters care?? I know plenty have little disregard for the larger picture and the general health of the scene but the major players, the all-nighter promoters, the larger soul night pomoters who take the effort to get top dj's alongide the best of the local talent (not cause they'll dj for free in return for a set at theirs) do care and don't promote to make money. It's great if they can make a bit of money as no one wants to be out of pocket. Do all those who champion the so called loytalty schemes know how much it costs to put on an all-nighter???? Compared to "normal" clubs, dance clubs the soul scene is far cheaper, especially considering how many hours entertainment they get. You wouldn't get 10 or 12 hours down the city/town centre nigh club for a tenner!! The soul scene has had it cheap for too many years IMHO

It might sound like a good idea to the average punter but have you stopped to think what bit costs to put on an all-nighter? Room hire, equipment hire, DJ's to pay, printing costs etc etc. I reckon you'd think twice about running a venue and letting folk in for free or even half price...every fourth event as you suggest would cost you a fair few pennies how many events actually make a profit?
