So Angry Is This The End Of An Allnighter Career?
I've always taken all look backs with a pinch of salt, usually the same few who do them, often mates of the promoters or dj's....do you think most would say anything negative....thought not!!! Me father used to say, "if thas nowt good to say about summat, keep thee gob shut" and as a rule I agree with what he said but I really would like to see what people really think about a certain night just to get a balanced view/arguement. I've been to venues, stood with certain people and we all agreed it was the worst night of our lives (again) yet I see them write totally the opposite on t'internet

Posting On Here
As already said, there's nothing on here that wasn't and still isn't said in the record bars at all-nighters. Think I've always had debates, sometimes heated, about the state of the scene, the quality of the music, oldies, newies blah blah blah...... I think half the posts on here are wind ups but some don't see them as that and it's very easy to take the written word the wrong way. I've not seen too much that has crossed the line and you never know it just might do some good one day

Unknown Artist-you Know How Love Is
I've seen the disc, it belonged to Sam and he left it with a mate to try and sell for him. When I listened to it I said June Jackson. No clues on the label, I've a scan somewhere.

Levine - Manifesto - Soul Source - Ho Hum
He's had a beef about Soul Source since he was thrown off Mike's original Soul Talk e-mail list by us then mods years ago. He then went on to set up his own "rival" e-mail list ANS. Have I missed a letter out somewhere

The Moments On Deep Or The Moments On Deep
The next track is definately Deep 001 so if someone can add Deep 002 we'll know for sure.

Where Do You See Our Scene Going To In The Future
The Europeans where the average age is far younger than the UK, the music policy differs greatly as well with elements of all genres thrown into the mix. Thats the first thing the UK scene has to do, go across the board. I don't mean the across the board clubs already profess to be "across the board" playing safe with the likes of Angie Stone and Drizabone, records with a strong northern flavour. Dj's should be free to play from all eras, 60's, 70's, 80's, crossover...soul with a funkier flavour, anything that will attract the youngsters. There are very few venues than can claim to be really across the board and very few that do it properly. Those that do have a strong younger audience, keen on the music and eager to come back for more. Those that continue with the 60's only policy or oldies will only see their audience coming through the doors on zimmers and for the lazy b*stards who can't be arsed to walk those annoying electirc buggies that seem to be the rage these days

Where Do You See Our Scene Going To In The Future
we will soon have the northern soul version of the Derby & Joan clubs

Overkill A Problem ?
local is where the problems initially arise IMO Mike. Can be a problem for niters more generally or with a soul night finishing 3 or 4am as people may decide to stay nearer home regardless of the music policies. You only have to look at the SS calendar this weekend, some 40 events advertised......many within the same catchment area. Definate case of overkill!!!

The Moments On Deep Or The Moments On Deep
two tracks above just found on PC, quick listen appear to be different.....

Overkill A Problem ?
maybe? The crap being referred to from what I read are the oldies only venues playing the same old same week in week out. Would you if you were 18 want to get into a music scene where all they play week in week out are the same record at venues attended by people older than their parents in some cases, I know I wouldn't. The whole scene is getting very stale and needs a good kick up the arse and freshening up IMHO and that begins with the music policy. The scene can only last so long with venues with a policy of playing safe, with venues constantly clashing and all the in fighting that goes with it. A turning point must be reached sometime in the future or it will probably be too late.

Overkill A Problem ?
if Pete was still with us and on Soul Source I think his account would be suspended on a daily basis

Overkill A Problem ?
I said what JT said a couple of pages ago (was told that it was relevant) and still say now that the music policy of whatever night is irrelevant. It's crazy to put two venues on the same night when there are three and sometimes four other weekends in the month. Of course it's overkill, irrespective of the music policy and the tastes of the paying customer, the local soulies are forced to choose between one or the other rather than benefit from two local venues during the month.

Yep it's a boot. Think off top of me head it was lifted from the Ohio Players lp.

Overkill A Problem ?
Along side the lesser known/unknown tracks Lifeline does play oldies but not the oldies you hear week in week out (well we try not to although I'm sure some that you do hear out on a regular basis do find their way to the turntables)....some are fed up with hearing the same records week in week out. It's like going to the local night club and hearing the top 40 for 20 or 30 years!!!! Some promoters err to much on the side of caution and are afraid to take risks. They would sooner have four dj's who play it safe rather than three who play the usual and one who plays something different to try and intoduce something new to punters.
