I made this comment Tony as sure thats what the liner notes on the CD Story of Hull/Mascot quotes. Not at home so can't look at the liner notes for clarification as to what it actually says. Cheers for clearing things up though

Hull is as far as I know the origianl label. I've a cd of the Hull/Mascot story at home somewhere. I'll post the Hull version when back on line with new ISP. It's the same but missing the fog horn brass on the Up Down release. It's far rarer with just a handful of copies as far as I know. Both versions shite and sod all to do with soul Leo Price is Lloyd Price's brother for those that didn't know and he ands his band made up the in house band at Hull.
  8. This shouldn't be anymore than £20 like Pikey's Dog says but I've seen at £30 and £40. It's a pretty common record and it's had spins for years. Recently got a copy back and played it out.
  9. --> QUOTE(Geoff B @ Apr 6 2007, 03:40 PM) link What about a record called "Flashback" Heard him play this on the radio once.Would like to know who this is by,think he mentioned Ritchie Adams, but was this a coverup name? It exists on two studio acetates only, Butch and Richard have them.
  10. It was Ion first. Richard later got it off Rob, 3 records I think in the deal. Butch got the 2nd known copy a while back off e-bay.

I think the issue tad harder for Ricky Lewis, seen more demos anyway.
  12. I've a feeling it was longer than the 19 minutes posted here, I coiuld have been splitting it to post????? Jo Wallace will know she was on the show. Anyway I can't find the "listen again" archive on t'BBC but there is the info about the show... Soul Self Satisfaction: The Story of Northern Soul Saturday 22 October 2005 10:30-11:00 (Radio 4 FM) Writer and cultural historian CP Lee explores the strange world of Northern Soul music, which first landed on British shores in the early 1960s. This movement instantly created an underground cultural phenomenon for teenagers who previously had nowhere to go. The Northern Soul scene was driven by a love of Black American artists who had failed to make a success in the USA. Followers of the Northern Soul fraternity include the designer Wayne Hemingway, music producer Ian Levine, DJ Jo Wallace, and lifelong soul boy Stuart Cosgrove, all of whom describe their passion and experiences of Northern Soul music.

The Mello Souls - We can make it - Mello. Not only has it a great intro but then crash bang wallop into one of the best Northern Soul records of all time.
  16. . Tis a rare record and doesn't crop up too often for sale.
  17. Are you saying there are more copies out there at reasonable prices or are you asking if there are more copies out there at reasonable prices? The question mark throwing me a tad. If you are saying there are more copies out there at more reasonable prices then where are they and how much?

maybe due to the fact it ain't indemand. plenty of stuff often ignored on the bay cause some top dj not playing it. I csan only go on what I've seen with this record, all the copies I've seen like I said sold for little effort, hightest price about 700. Pretty sure I've got this on tape from Cliff Steele fom mid 80's.
  22. Chalky posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
its nearer 300/400 quid if you ask me, maybe more. every copy I've seen sold with no effort. I personally prefer it to Jimmy Reed Jnr but they are both great in their own respect, two different styles.
  23. Chalky posted a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
its no where near as good imho
