Had a message from Hammy who many will know that after a recent incident whilst on holiday he's been left with some serious health problems. Won't go into what etc but he tells me everything will hopefully be ok and he will fully recover. He will still be popping on here every now and then if he gets the chance but I for one hope he makes a full recovery.

Sure Mr Flynn worked there too as well as Dave. Guy tells the story about it on the first show he did with Dean Anderson t'other week. It's unreleased as a 45. It's on a UK cd, Up All Night or something like.
  3. the geezer was aded by Jazz FM when Richard S played it on his show. As for the "boot", Ron Murphy did them and I'm told by a friend of his that they are fully legit, royalties paid etc.
  4. Butch still has his copy.
  5. At the last Sheridans nighter, Chris King played a great track from back then, Eddie Holman c/u You Done Me Wrong. Anyone got mp3?

is this the I have a dream speech?
  11. Thats What You Did - larry laster - duo virgo 13280 refosoul Just seen this mentioned elsewhere, fabulous!
  12. Isn't a dj booked for the tunes he (or she) owns Most promoters I know don't book a DJ not knowing what they are letting themselves of his or her paying customers in for.
  13. This I Beg Of You - jimmy norman - samar 13279 refosoul Tenner to buy a £1000 in quality IMHO.
  14. I have talked to Tim about doing some more with Andy Dyson, cds featuring Dave asd the promoter and his choice of what Stafford was about and then others with impout from the DJ's with the emphasis on the stuff not already in the mainstream. Plenty ogf great tracks yet to be "discovered" by todays dance floors. Maybe we can grab Tim @ Lifeline Dave?
  15. Gave this a spin out at the weekend, fab tune. Funnily enoiugh Kell's Revis outing just dropped on the door mat this morning, Something For the Books/Yaya Yaya.
  16. I for one will be staying away, I can stop at home and listen to cd's but I'll be at the Lifeline Rare Weekender which probably won't be full of proper soul fans as there could well be a dash of the odd, slow obscure rubbish played

I know many a brilliant record that I'm sick of hearing Are the Four Voices legit? I've got my doubts. Just because done using original plates stamped etc doesn't mean they are legit. Whoever did them it was done for one reason and thats to cash in on the northern record market. There are plenty around on the market and it shouldn't be anymore than £20, the same price other boots and re-issues are selling for cause it's no rarer, in some cases it's far more common than some boots/re-issues.
  22. Just had a dig and the Detroit Sound Recording Company consisting of Brooks Brothers and Sequins is from 1966 and owned by Taylor and Turner Productions. The other Detroit Sound is owned by Irv Steiner and began life in 1967.
  23. The Sequins Detroit Sound is part of the Deto and Music Now label set up. It also seems that Tay is also related. Share the same address (9846 12th Street) both Taylor and Turner productions and Lovenote publishing. Also both written by one of the Brooks family. If they are different labels then there was two Detroit Sound Recording Co's operating around the same time???
  24. I'd agree with you Pete (again ), £75 more than enough IMHO.
  25. Thats the one, cheers Tone. Knew of the Jo Jo petite sharing the backing.
