I myself have played many a record under £50. Firm believer that along with rarer stuff throw in some cheapies and then at least there's some there the punters can afford if they don't know and wish to buy. At least half my last set were under £50. Played Carl Carlton for a while, £80 Butch has or had these at £20 or £30, and thats recently cause I put someone onto a copy he had. Have seen Geni for around £60 in recent times so wouldn't have thought £75 too ridiculous and as for Gene Chandler, we've been there already

dunno, maybe again possibly bit too fast for beat ballad but fuckin' 'ell, what a fantastic soul record. Pisses all over that shite Kenny Lonas version as well
  4. I actually used to play this the odd time in the 80's early 90's, sure I played it at Bretby and few collectors didn't know it then with one or two coming up to see what it was
  5. personally think the alternate version to You Can Split, Is This A Womans Way isn't very good, poor at side of Youngblood Smith
  6. thought it was someone beginning with "L" Thomas but couldn't quite remember

well some of todays seem to be too quick to be beat ballads and some of yesterdays seemed to be too slow to be mid-tempo
  12. Sheridans New Years Eve All-nighter Cancelled View full article
  13. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, We have no alternative but to cancel the planned all-nighter on New Years Eve. We will however be back in the New Year with allnighters as planned for both Lifeline and Dusk Till Dawn. In the meantime all involved with Lifeline and Dusk Till Dawn would like to wish all a Merry Christmas and Soulful and Prosperous New Year.
  14. There's over a 100 releases on Fania with the numbering system starting in the early 400's and finishing late 900 then the label series contines with Uptite, so must be a fair few good 'uns in there
  15. err isn't the Nurons an old Wigan spin you just missed one on e-bay, just over 3.5k I think, cheap I thought, was expecting it to go for around 5k.
  16. well Dave Abbott said he had a nerve listing the record and not putting northern soul in the description
  17. saw it on the RSF this afternoon
  18. Neither will I Simon, I also go through record boxes and have done so for many years as well. And it's this very reason why I've seen the record at 50, 60 and 80 quid. I also attend venue on a regular basis and see what's happening on the shop floor so to speak. I've already offered to buy copies of you Pete and Kenny so when you do find one, as you already have a copy, I'll give you £25, thats a fiver profit on what you reckon you will get one for.
  19. Not saying anyone is right or wrong Pete, just what I've seen with this particular record in recent months and that the prices I've seen quite a few copies at, plus what others have said in this topic suggest that even though you would be doing your customers a good service you would be selling it far too cheaply.
  20. What I see week in week out is what I take as gospel and like said earlier Pete seen plenty of other instances of the price of the record in question....you're the only one so far that has said they would sell it for £25. And I dare bet that those who shout up saying anything more is nonsence wouldn't sell at £25 now.
  21. Both Because of You and Deep Dark Secret fell back in price now haven't they, certainly seen Because of you for a more (yet still over priced) price and Deep Dark Secret for half what you quote. I've seen some buy the Gene Chandler and they are neither clueless or lack the knowledge as you imply You should stop living in the fairy tale world of soul source. Pete wasn't aware of the rise in price, so he sold his @ what he thought it was worth. The record has n't been £20 in the nonsense world of northern soul for some time. Christ even JM says sold last 15 (going back a year) at £50 and over, last 4 at £75....various others tell you what they've sold it for so the facts are it wasn't a £20 record even a year ago, what more do you need to convince you it is no longer a 20/25 record? or do you want to live happily ever after in a fairy tale world for ever and ever
  22. i'll leave that to your imagination
  23. aye but not as good as I Shot To The Moon
