Syl Johnson - Try Me - Twinight/Twilight one of been spinning on and olff last couple of years. Since seen it on a few playlists...should get one for a tenner. Tad more than a tenner, round a bout the £30 mark is JJ Daniels - Mr Lonesome - Sureshot...fantastic Another spin for me last couple of years is Benny Latimore - Girl I Got News For You - Dade.....superb. £25 should secure a copy.
  7. Since April, 2002, The Steve Propes 45s Show has been heard weekly on www.wpmd.org, generally live, on Saturdays, 9 to 11 a.m., PT. (1600 to 1800 GMT), check your local time zones. Often, guests show up: Kell Osbourne, Rip Spencer, Tony Allen, Count Yates, Elliott Shavers, Young Jesse, Thomas Turner and Charles Wright, among others, have been recent guests on the show. They hear their music, then they comment on their career. It's all very casual. Steve has a collection of around 35,000 r&b/soul and other style 45s, so he can always get something new on the air to play.

think it will be a while before it settles down to a realistic price. currently £317 on JM auction

As a collector I would have thought you would go for the local/first issue. A second issue or national release would do until you could find a copy of the first. Looks, do they come into it when collecting? I would go for the first issue over a better looking second issue label, maybe then buy the fancy looking one if I was a completist collector.

  19. been about years as far as I know Christian.
  20. Apart from the music the dancing, the spins drops etc are/was what made this scene special/different compared to other scenes was it not Why now do the acrobats seem so "in the past", a bit like some of the clothing from back in the day if you like. When done right by a good dancer they can be a joy to watch. I watched Carl and another guy at the Palais couple of years or so ago, they were being watched by a load of students who had come in. Egged on by the crowd they, were taking it in turns, some great dancing on show and the students were all stood there open mouthed, they were amazed at what they were watching.

I'm not saying it is rare but the £100 to £150 is a bit off the mark these days....personally don't think the £300-£500 is far off the mark today......the number of folks who ask about this both on forums and off list would suggest the demand is still there.

Last one I saw dealer to collector was about £1200 in total....not saying it's worth that much, has sold for less on auctions but certainly worth more than the £100/£150. It does seem very indemand at the minute.
  25. if done properly and in time with the music they are great to watch. Carl who I mentioned makes it look so easy, totally effortless and more importantly he does them at the right time
