I did an article about Bernard Williams once but never did anything with it, wonder what happened to it
  13. Happy days travelling up to Shotts on the coach that Guy ran or the mini bus that Dean got from work
  14. We were regulars all over then Byrney Can remember us both DJing at Ripley and have it on tape somewhere I think with us both on The Chesterfield squad were very heavy handed. From 6 allnighters they caught one person with a couple of grams of speed, they would have had more success down the Adam and Eve the dozy pillocks At the end of the day the police didn't want the nighters there, they even objected to an application for a licence for one of the local colliery brass bands :graywanker: They caused the management , who were well up for the nighters to be held there some right grief In the end it wasn't worth the hassle. Apparently the management was asked a couple of years ago about the prospect of nighters there again and they seemed keen at the time, nothing came of it. If I could afford it I would do it myself, best venue I've ever been in, one 700 capicity room, one 400, one for 150/200 and a smaller one for record bar, superb place, grade two listed so in great nick
  15. from Music Direct.....
  16. A Rosebuds sold very recently for £250
  17. I agree mate but it ain't that Rock and Roll crap some play Thats what I can't stand Buddy Ace...played at Northern Soul nights/nighters....must be Northern Soul then
  18. Best period for for music IMHO the 80's Loads of stuff we listened too just waiting to be re-discovered by the returnees of the 90's Rob also ran some dayers under his Soul Power banner in Mansfield somehwere, can't remember where, think they were on a Sunday Rob was one of the best at the time IMO, just didn't get the breaks he should have done.
  19. could have been a tad later, maybe nearer '90? I've a flyer somewhere I'll see if I can find it and see if there is a date on it.
  20. It was either brick or cobbles, f****** deadly I know Mansfield well so one way was no trouble for me. There was a record shop on the street to the side of Swan we used to visit, guy called Titch I think used to run it forget who owned it
  21. Mucky Duck either year before or early '87. That bloody dance floor, bet there was more sprined ankles
  22. Try Me his best IMO...one I've played out most times I've got behind the decks. Don't come much better for a tenner
  23. It's up in the sounds section now
  24. I've played this out the odd occasion the last couple of years, nice and cheap too
  25. Remember Trotters very well, hardly missed one...remember Pete Lawson getting barred by the bar staff at one of the days Was turned into a rave club. 1987 the Winding Wheel all-nighters in Chesterfield were in full swing run by Danny Everard and Dave Thorley. Blackburn and Mexboro' (both Tony's Empress Ballrooms) run by Guy Hennigan. 100 Club doing the business plus loads of one off all-nighters/soul nights. Got some flyers somewhere for fair few venues from '87.
