  1. Neal I assume one of those numbers is a typo?
  2. I always thought that was applause to welcome my replacement Or is that what you meant?
  3. I have to say that is something I've never ever experienced. (I meant the applauding bit obviously)
  4. If you promote and only go to your mates venue(s) how can you know who else to book? That's why so few records get played in many venues. The promoters do not know anything else or at least haven't seen the dancefloor reaction to anything else. So the dancers at those venue never get to know anything new (well I know thats an over exageration but you see my point). I'm not sure how Ady picks his guests if as he says he never goes anywhere but perhaps its on reputation / word of mouth.
  5. I was just about to point that out.
  6. That'll be it I think. Shame about the label though.
  7. If you look at the line up for the Autumn weekender at Pontins in Southport you'll see that the confirmed DJs have the ability to deliver a real quality 'Rare and Underplayed' room which isn't an afterthought or an add on its a superb room with a great sound system. True there'll be a bigger room full of the oldies crowd but that shouldn't take away from DJ's such as Ted Massey, Phil Threlfall, Dave Welding, The Willinghams, Pete Hullat, Simon Hunt, Mick Smith, Soul Sam, John Weston, Roger Banks etc etc. I think there's enough rare and underplayed stuff in their collections to suit anyone but the only way to find out it to be there.
  8. If your copy is "Mint - " whos is the copy in the pictures?
  9. Thats the same with all music Macca isn't it. Trouble is many will have made their mind up before hearing it just because its from Ian. Mind you I'm probably one of them
  10. I sold one last year for around £20 probably in the sales box for £25 but took £20ish as part of a deal on multiple records
  11. The February mystery solved then. Thanks for that.
  12. Had a section of Northern in my own pub juck box in the 80's Little Ritchie, Christine Cooper, Dells, Velvet Satins, Dana Valery and others all originals too. I must have been mad

Sadly true Brett. PRS have limited staff to police it and DJs know this. They took the route of licensing because they knew how hard it would be to control. FIMI the Italian equivalent of PRS prosecuted a DJ with (from memory) a hard drive with just 2,000 tracks on it I.4 million Euros (Yes Euros not Lira)

Fair point. Mind you they way some tracks are on multiple CDs you may need more than 60 but yes it is possible to legitimately own 1500 tracks as a beginer.

I inferred it from your comment about the presenter or guest not owning the record. Maybe I misunderstood

Bob - I think we're coming from the same place. I get tired of the OVO / boots debate as it often misses the point that legitimate DJs should play legitimate music. There isn't a grade of illegal as far as I'm concerned. To play a digitaly stored music file publicly in the UK you need an annual 'Pro Dub' licence. this isn't needed for vinyl only DJ's https://www.prsformusic.com/users/recordedmedia/ProDub/Pages/ProDubLicence.aspx

Here's another example of people potentially throwing out the legitimacy 'baby' with the format 'bathwater'. Play off whatever you like on radio for me but at least only play tracks you have the legal right to play. Having 1500 tracks to play as a newcomer to 'Northern Soul' does not suggest those tracks are all legitimately 'owned'. Apologies Stephen500 if you have them all on a legal format and have your produb license.
  18. I had a shopping list then I realised the price came after the record not before it
  19. Are you saying you had these tracks cut to acetate but they're not rare?

Nearly sent a PM saying I'll take the Jan Jones then. Good job I checked See I learned my lesson from the Magic Night episode
  22. It'll go the same way as every other similar thread. No one ever changes their mind and no DJ has every changed his methods as a result of these threads.
  23. Any you lot are sick of just send em to me. Can't think of one I can't put up with for three minutes as long as someone in liking it.
  24. but the 'D' in CD also stands for Disk. Mind you CDJ as in Compact Disk Jockey does make it sound like eveyone is the size of me Johnny Weston or Little Scotty
