Eh? I bought a copy of this from the Las Vegas dealer who sells re-presses, and also seems to find unplayed store stock - hence the continued debate. The copy I have is thick vinyl which you can't see light through and has crisp label text and not sharp edges...

You sure that wasn't the copy on UK MIAMI? It seems to crop up, but I've asked on here before about CHOSEN FEW on Action and nobody seems to have seen one...

When I tell (normal) people I paid £20 for a record they think that's a lot of money. If you can understand paying five grand for a record - where's the leap in craziness to paying, oooh, six grand. Or maybe the next one will be seven grand...

"Make Me Believe In You" had an extended mix done in the 70s - think the album was called (no doubt imaginatively at the time...) "Disco Gold" - all Scepter/Wand mixes if i remember correctly. Which I often don't. In fact, I'm sure there was another Patti Jo mix on there - might even have been "Ain't No Love Lost". Must go and dig it out... Anyone know anything else about Patti Jo? Or Sami's magic sales techniques?!

Oh dear. Can. Worms... The reason I bought the Roulette "re-issue" is that it's the "original" issue of the "alternate" earlier take. I had the Dakar one already, in fact bought it at the very first niter I went to at the Manchester Ritz. Fond memories...

I know this was covered in a previous thread - that Tyrone Davis's classic "Can I Change My Mind" (Dakar) was re-issued, on various Old Gold type labels, with a different, earlier, rawer (and better) take... I've just picked up a spare copy on Roulette (was trying to find a vinyl copy to replace my styrene ABC one) - and was amazed to hear this one's the alternate version, but has female backing vocals. Anyone else heard this?

So WHAT actually got played then, that got everyone in such a tizzy? Soul music is a broad spectrum, some of it has a straight four-four beat considered northern soul, some of it has a syncopated backbeat considered funk. And lots is somewhere in the middle... I mean Frankie Crocker "Ton Of Dynamite" - that's considered a northern oldie, to my ears it sounds like a straight up funk track. C'MON - name some offending tracks from the 100 Club...
