Yes, thats probably true. with the Greatstone, Three greyhounds, DDA and a lot of smaller clubs (not nighters) turning over quite a lot of new stuff, I guess theres a lot of exposure on that, smaller, circuit. Which really doesn't involve people in their hundreds. So 3 years is a realistic turn over time for reaching a bigger audience.

Still got my membership card...Dark Days as I remember..ha! Used to go with the Long Eaton lads 'Doc' etc. Then the 'crossbow' struck and it all went weird!

I got it after shortly after hearing you play it at CIS years ago Marco, was playing it back at Sheridens, Middletron, Piercebridge, soul or Nothing etc (got it off Rob thomas).i played it every spot and for a couple of years to an empty floor! Think I got mine before Andy and Mick.... I was the representitive in the North..ha!

Papa Bear has been hammered for 3 years or so now. I think overplayed rarities is a good term for a lot of whats going on! Personally, I think great tunes should be looked after and not played into extinction...but im not a jobbing dj being pestered with requests!

Wish I could Pete....sort it out and ill go. But, as i said ther are loads of examples of 'funk played over the years on the Northern scene! I hate the shite pop thats always gone hand in hand with Northern...to me its NOT northern, just shite pop...take Levines stuff as an example! But some call it Northern! Kiki f--king Dee, Camp, Johnny Vanelli, Harry Betts, Esperanto....your play box Pete Fact is the Northern Scene doesnt hold a singular definition. Its idiosyncratic and has always contained elements of funk, from Wigan through to the Mecca and beyond! Its only the musical bigots and those with closed ears that forget that.

Thats exactly how it should be ....the uk thing is fucked up because of peoples dogma, categorising and imposing of rules. Ghetto Kitty, Beginning of the end, Francine Mcgee etc have all enjoyed success on the so called 'Northern Scene' back in the day. Its since then that people have become bitter and deaf. Norway sounds great....keep it up!
