  5. Soulskin I take it that your an Aspuller, if thats the case why not attend a soul night this friday at Hilltops club, Blackrod, Danny Paton and Ben Hindley from Wigan Young Souls along with some of the old Aspull soul boys are the DJs
  6. Couldnt Agree with you more about Mr Ms. To this day when I hear the Ramsey Lewis version of Wade in the Water it reminds me of Mike Rolo I also remember Mike from the Monday and Saturday nights at the Monoco in the early 70s As an Aspuller I knew Kenny Spence and Ste Whittle

    I like to think i know soul music but admit to having a preference to uptempo dancers rather than x/over
  10. I remember visiting the soul club at the old BWFC and it was definately on a Sunday night
  11. Beachcomber, Wigan 1970, They played a mixed bag of music which included soul music that was to classed as Northern Soul Highland Room, Blackpool, early 70s was the first dedicated Northern Soul club I danced at, The atmosphere I will never forget
  12. One thats not full of Piss cans drinking on and spilling beer all over floor like the Twisted Wheel on Sunday.
  13. I was at wheel and saw the young uns and often see them around the wigan venues. Iv seen the guys DJ as well and they play some good tunes. They carry of the retro look very well, although as someone mentioned on another post the guys had longer hair in the 70s
  14. Having just got back n the scene I was surprised at the amount of youngsters who attend some of the events around wigan, some as young as 17 and some even tag along with their parents. I even met the daughter of Harry Green who was one of the main casino bouncers However at 56 I was one of the young uns when I attended the Twisted Wheel, but after all I was only 16 when it closed in 1971
  15. One of the biggest kick offs I remember at the casino nighters was when the normal night had been a punk rock do, and they where leaving as the soulies for the nighter where queing up. It ended with bottles being thrown and punches flying
