  1. Thanks for the input Ady, It does kinda look good on US acetates rather than the UK emi discs, during the 70's i was cutting emi's every week at Dereks Kettering Base. recently i remember Kev Draper mentioning that he preferred to have his emi's done in New York for that extra buzz. Pete Lawson was fond of cutting emi's aswell...
  2. i wonder why he had it cut in the states?

  12. We should all be grateful to anybody who comes along and sings with such style and soul fulness alongside a proper band playing proper instruments. Too early to catch on for the northern soul crowd. maybe in 20 years time. who's brave enough to go and purchase 25 copies and stick em in the attic. is it available on 7" vinyl?

A lot of Great songwriters collaborated with Jerry Ross - inparticularly a guy called MARK BARKAN, now the tunes this guy came up with were also filled with magic. and i'm a big fan of the track "Pity the woman" on December records. Does anybody have any info on the December label, i know of Tamiko Jones also on the label?

Now then Don't Laugh, and mind your lumbago. but on the picture cover of the Italian Asphalt and Pavement Company 45 the first guy looks just like Jerry Ross as the photo in your article. Now was he a Moonlighting producer?

Dazz, Yeah - its interesting to see how these tunes evolve and where Jerry Ross would of got his ideas and inspiration to lay down such an awesome groove... at the time you would of had the likes of J.R. BAILEY - love won't wear off as the years go by,BOBBY WILSON Here is where the love is, and Deeper and Deeper, and All I Need i've got to name a few. I guess it's like the Northern scene everybody feeds of everybodys else creating further creativity and inspiration

Simon, theres a nice record on colossus by the I.A.P.C.(The italian ash and pavement company) reworking of the Intruders hit "Check Yourself", any idea if Jerry Ross was the producer on this track.?
  24. Chris, there must be copies somewhere - the other good sound by Charmaine on the same label seems to have disappeared aswell, used to see and stock it a while back remember Ted Massey having a copy off me(Charmaine) at Boogaloo Records. Holy Cross was a top venue for a good while - seen some characters come and go.Steve Smith was programming some eclectic tunes at the time think he was first on the KURT HARRIS at the time and a host of rare 60's stuff. keep in touch Rudzy

Gotcha - same as Virgil Henry. What's gone on there, Jerry records the track and thinks this Shit is so hot (True) that we gotta get a female version in on this mutha QUICK
