  1. Oh Ok, sorry Dave... the internet is a cold medium... without pulling the thread off topic... I only really have a direct experience of visiting Hong Kong, which has some nice nights and some nice clubs with a knowledgeable crowd, and the rest I was going on what I had read on here, rumours of high prices paid at manships auctions, tales of diggers meeting Japanese collectors in the US, youtube videos and Keb Darges interviews/video DJing in Japan... However, japan-wise you would probably know better than me!
  2. old news for some I understand, but the OP is returning to the scene Dave!

Watson and the Sherlocks - Standing on the Corner - Soulville - Mint (happen to have a spare copy) If I'm being picky the label is couple of mm off centre (I'm told a lot of these are like that!) storming underplayed northern! 5. Yes to the original question, just not in this country. The Japanese and Chinese scenes are young affluent and buying up most of the rare stuff they can find. In this country I think our society it's too fragmented to support any kind of youth subculture, like we had in the past, be it northern mod skinhead, unless there is a northern soul xbox game coming out? agree with Martyn though, them few nights in Leeds are northern soul nirvana.
  6. Just vote with your feet... Personally I would not be happy paying for someone to do the same as I can at home (much better) with a laptop and youtube! IMO If your not playing original vinyl that you have personally researched, chosen, searched for and bought there isn't much point having a DJ at all! However, I'm not daft enough to think that will mean anything or change the behaviour of those who treat soul nights the same as X-Factor or Strictly It seems "Keep the Faith" has never meant so little... J

  14. Anyone have a setlist from this time? - only ones I can find are full of cover-up titles! J
  15. ey up Supertune! Great tune, always wanted one but always find other things to buy instead £40 should get you one in nice nick, not mega money. Have PMed you a link to a copy. J p.s How much did they want for the minter?
  16. ey up I've been listening to quite a few podcasts and being fascinated by the art of mixology, wondered what? when? and who? we feel played the best set ever. Them legendary sets which have defined the art of the Northern Soul DJ. I think this and the story behind it is pretty special (thanks to Chalky!) but I'm sure there are some things from smaller venues and lesser known DJs which would be interesting to hear about! https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/files/podcast_16.mp3 https://www.soulunder...0243d42-16.html J
  17. Any takers? not looking for exact matching value, will consider most things (except modern )
