I don't think you should read too much into it. Just enjoy it for what you get out of it, that's what I did. Really enjoyed it. Don't know if this helps from GG. "Both are bathed in red strobe lights, which characterizes the intimacy of their touch as more than vaguely sexual. In certain images, you're not exactly sure what you're seeing, until it's revealed that EO and Kasandra are part of a Polish circus act." Did you see the Robert Bresson Au Hasard Balthazar which is the director's inspiration for this film? Have a listen to what Mark Kermode says about it https://youtu.be/orE-MWRh-Xs I don't always get certain elements of a film but as long as I enjoy it then its enough for me, and I can always do the research on a film afterwords to see what I missed Often one needs to see a film twice and you get more out of it the second time. Now as for the Everything film that won all the oscars - that was dreadful. Lots of stuff I just didn't get but the acting was just stupid, comic hollywood fashion mixed in with it - you just couldn't take it seriously at all - so coupled with the fact that half the time you wonder what the hell is going on ? It's a farce it won so many oscars, and I wonder if it didn't have the stars and names in it that it had, would it have got the same amount of attention? Probably not! But that's Hollywood for you. Still got to watch this, hope it is still on Netflix. (The Goat and Her Three Kids).

    Where is available to watch?
  3. Just wondering if anyone has a Ruby Andrews signed limited edition with the velvet gatefold for sale at a decent price.

I finally saw it and I hated it. Not only did it not make sense but the hollywood style acting made it worse and you couldn't take it seriously at all. Christopher Lolan would have made a finer job of it if the Koreans remade it would be far better. This film is complete pants IMO!

Go and see PEARL. Much better film and didn't get a look in at the Oscars. Mia Goth is top.

Good idea - may do this if I can find the time. Is it a paid IMDB account or Free.

Just been to see PEARL today. Ti West's prequel to X starring Mia Goth (again starring in Pearl). She is brilliant. I loved X and I loved this - in fact I would probably go and see it again. Please see this in the cinema if you can, it's quite beautiful, lovely strong colours, great cinematography and a lovely mood to the film, catches the era perfectly. Google says this about it but it's much more: "Plot. In 1918 during the influenza pandemic, Pearl is a young woman living with her German immigrant parents on their Texas homestead while her husband, Howard, serves in World War I. Pearl's father is infirm and paralyzed, and her domineering mother, Ruth, insists that she help care for both him and the farm." Here's the trailer. https://youtu.be/L5PW5r3pEOg Hope some of you go see and enjoy it. One of the best films I have seen this year.

Interesting list though I must admit that I have only seen 6 of these on your list. We probably have different tastes as I watch main independent and foreign language films. Impressive way to make a list using IMDB, I must do a list like that. How is it possible to make a list like that in IMDB? do you have to subscribe to use that kind of function?
  10. What film are they talking about? Sorry just got up to 24 mins where they finally put Hitsville the Making of Motown image on the screen. Would have helped to put it on the screen to begin with for those not sat in that audience. For a moment I thought there must have been another film released that I didn't know about, but thought it must have been this film. I guess with this being a resent post it threw me a bit, i thought this was a new interview. Yes I saw this film twice when it came out in the cinema. totally enjoyed. Got the UK Quad poster for it and the DVD.

One of my favourite film soundtracks is by Goran Bregović for "Time of the Gypsies" by Emir Kusturica. Probably his best ever film for which he won the Best Director Award in the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. Shamefully it has never been reissued in the UK either in the cinema or on DVD. I just don't understand. You can watch it on Amazon (for a small price) - I still have my old VHS copy if I ever want to watch it. The only DVD's ever available is a German version with no English subtitles or dodgy Korean ones. Such a shame - absolutely beautiful film and great soundtrack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_of_the_Gypsies

Sounds interesting. Talking about French films. A few days ago I saw the film CLOSE a French / Belgium co production. Film has been nominated for Best Foreign film at the Oscars (I didn't know that before seeing it only found out that through talking to a friend after). It is brilliant, very moving portrayal of these two young boys growing up and going. The 13-year-old boys Léo and Rémis have a close friendship at school and in the flower fields where they and their parents pick the harvest for home. When schoolmates shoot a wedge into the relationship, tragedy happens. It's a very emotional story with excellent music with out being too Hollywoodesque - if you know what i mean, I was very tearful at times. Fantastic coming of age film, check it out if you can find a cinema showing . There are some Vues and Odeon's screening it in their awards season due to its nominations. Sadly I was the only one in the audience - but I do like having cinemas to myself.

I watched it last week, I thought it was a whimsy affair, typical of Speilberg. The filming scenes of him learning his craft was interesting but apart from that it was dull. I have seen a lot better films in the last week. Including the rather beautiful Polish film EO, something I have never seen the likes of before by jerzey Skolimowski - rather excellent and a beautiful cinematic ride. You will not see anything quite like it!
  16. If anyone interested Record Shack in Austria still have some in stock.

Seen it yesterday. Very good film, beautifully filmed. sad but brave story. Going to see it again this week. Also, important one to catch if one hasn't seen TILL yet, it's brilliant. Well worth a screening if you can find it in your local cinema. Till is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of young black boy who was lynched after being accused of making a racist comment about a white woman. Based on the true story of Mamie Till-Bradley, an educator and activist who pursued justice after the murder of her 14-year-old son Emmett in August 1955.
  18. Got one now, you could try the company that contacted me see if they still have one.
  19. Missed this and really want it. Anyone got a spare for sale but not at £75 like the one on Ebay now.
  20. I looked at that site a few days ago, it sold . thanks anyway
  21. Anyone got one of these in their box they no longer play. Been after this for a while but keep missing it when it comes up for sale so just thought `i would ask around here. Decent copy (min excellent) at a decent price please. PM
  22. No they won’t . I have lots of stuff, vinyl and valuable art prints posted from Europe and USA with low value of £5 on them and it’s below the limit for customs duty. mind you, the buyer should remember that he agrees with seller to do that then it’s kind of at the buyers risk if anything goes wrong in the post. Not always ideal for expensive purchases but for the cheaper stuff (up to 100 in my case) I believe it’s worth the risk to me. Because if you post with a low value on it you cannot insure it for its true value so if it’s lost or damaged you would only be able to claim the value you put on it. Normally, as a buyer I have to agree that with the seller / sender.
  23. Did have. I looked at that ages ago and it was sold. He should take it down.
  24. Yes I know. looked at them but expensive and don't have £150 to spend on the box set - just wanna buy the single really (that was what I was referring to - I cannot find any of just the etta James single for sale ). I just spent a lot over the last two months on vinyl so got to slow down and I still owe money to people that i bought of so not buying anything else over £100 at the moment. But thanks for the thought. If anyone has a copy of the single drop me a line.
  25. Thanks. Gonna get a copy. Still want that Etta James though on a single. Cannot find any of those reissues on the Chess series for sale anywhere.
