Ebay Bids
I don't use snipers and I don't class myself as "stupid". I just put a bid in for what I'm willing to pay, and if I don't win it's fine as it obviously went for more than I wanted to pay. I don't really care if I have to pay the top amount I bid. That's fine by me. And, yes, I have very occasionally got involved in a last minute bidding war to win something. But again I don't care. The money's irrelevant if it's something I want, and the fun of the last minute bidding is worth the extra. Phil

Ebay Bids
Well I don't really care how high an auction goes. Like I said I'll usually make an early bid for as much as I'm willing to pay. If I win and pay the full amount of my bid I'm still happy. If I lose then it was higher than I wanted to pay so I'm still happy. Bob & Fred is a good example, I bid $830.00, it's gone above that now so I won't win the record, but I'm not overly bothered as I already have a VG copy of it. Some you win, some you lose. But I win more than I lose. I must admit it can be a little frustrating to lose out on $1000 record by $10-$20 though Phil

Ebay Bids
I am one of the guilty ones. From my perspective, if I see summat I want I'll usually try and bid the max I want to pay straight away, then I don't have to waste time constantly looking at the same items over and over again. I don't always have time to spend looking at ebay and often records I bid on end at times that are inconvenient for me to bid last minute. So if I pay more than I may have done by waiting, then I really don't care. I'll never pay more than my maximum bid will I? And to me that's what the record is worth to me. Make sense? Phil

That comment's more than a little mischievous. The others were delayed due to your request that we put Peter Lamarr out as the 2nd single. I listened to it, agreed and now I get this? Phil

New Weekly Allnighter Starting
I don't think so. Coupla grand or so a week would do it. Why would you need more than one venue? The whole point of a weekly venue would be to have one venue, surely? I remember when I was promoting a lot back in the late 80's early 90's, used to run sometimes 6 all-niters a month and the constant request was for just one venue every week. Admittedly it may be very different now. I'm not thinking of having a go though Too many other stuff going on. Maybe when I retire in 3 or 4 years though .....

PETER LAMARR - UNDER LOCK AND KEY/TAKING YOU FOR GRANTED
I admire your passion Ian, as you know. But I don't believe that I have any less than you. If I have a certain amount of tact and diplomacy. It has been learned by necessity over many years of being in sales. That's how I earn my living.

Shouldn't be too much. Coupla grand a pop at first maybe? Then the investment can be recouped by doing a deal with the venue after it's proved itself out of the profits made over the bar. I am sure that any "good" venue would cover DJ costs, give the place for free AND pay the promoter a few quid once it's a going concern. Anyone fancy a punt? Phil

PETER LAMARR - UNDER LOCK AND KEY/TAKING YOU FOR GRANTED
Well, I can say it's definitely NOT been done to make money. It would be great if it did make loads of money. I absolutely love making money, because then I can buy more records, cars, holidays etc. And the ethos it preserves, I suppose, is that of good songs being sung by good singers. I "hope" that we'll sell enough to cover the costs, but if we don't then that's life. It is being put out because we at Soul Intention records believe it deserves a release on vinyl, because by being on vinyl it WILL get played by some DJ's. There are 500 copies being produced. If you want to pre-order it you will be able to do so via https://www.soul-intention.co.uk by next weekend. Cheers Phil

Willy Mcdougal - Don't Turn Away On Kinard
A few of used to play this back at Queens Hall. Gene McDaniels cover-up. Pat Brady played it first though I believe. I've just dug it out and played it for what must be the first time in over 15 years. Great record!
