Not to worry as you'll be seeing me in Brighton next year for the little shindig down there You should know better than to criticize Sam on't net Sutty as you could end up in allsorts of bother That's a bargain Catfish as iv'e seen Michael proctor listed for £30 recently & now Sams playing it we all know what's going to happen. 5. Bit of a long shot this but has anybody got a good quility MP3 of the 12" version of Love Is A Serious Business by Alfie Davidson they could post up or send me as a PM or e mail. Normally wouldn't do this but a very good friend has asked me to play it tonight at our Clifton Hall Reunion & it would mean a lot to them. My e mail addy is modernism@blueyonder.co.uk Thanks, Mart...
  6. Think this is the mix you want but be careful when you order it as it's record 1 in a 2 record set & it's the UBP Classic mix but a lot of covers have the Jazz & Groove mix printed on the front cover & UBP on the back. It's on AM:PM records number 581-791-1 Must admit vocally it sounds a bit Tom Jonesy to me but a great dance record from 1996 & always sure to fill a dance floor. UBP.mp3 While your'e searching through the Urban Blues Project stuff keep a lookout for the UBP classic mix of We Are One featuring Bobby Pruitt. Awesome record with some great vocals & horn work featured. Mart...
  7. Guess you're right Sean. You collect Soul Sounds boots, I once had a pair of Dr Martin boots (it's a name thing) & Manno's got a box full of Goldmine boots
  8. Now then Sean, SteveM said you were gonna turn up on Saturday with a box full of boots Always thought he was a no good lying blaggard but not so sure now Mart...

Hate to pigeonhole music but if i had to put Broadway Cissy - Roscoe & friends in 1 it would be under Funky Northern. Now where would you put this? Tell_Her.mp3 & this? ELLIPSIS___PEOPLE.MP3 Now this is Funk & if i heard it played in a Northern room i'd be the first on the dance floor. Galaxy_War.mp3
  13. Top shout Sean Not trying to influence what you play next Saturday but leave Joe Simon at home & i'm sending you back for it
  14. Just wondering if any of the South Yorkshire crowd have got any info about a soul night at Silverwood club in Rotherham tonight? Look in events & can't find anything so any info would be most welcome as i don't want to turn up if it ain't on. Sorry if this is in the wrong section Shane but i can't really post it in events if it ain't an event if you nknow what i mean. Mart...

  21. Good call Mr Randle Think 2006 has been a great year so far for uptempo stuff. Big Brooklyn Red, 280 West (Never Knew), Little Big Band, John Banfield, Luther (Shine) etc. Can see it going down as a classic year Mart...
  22. Cheers Tezza Bloody great record mate.
  23. Know what you mean r/e 1985 onwards & myself personally would continue that right through to the mid 90s, the good stuff was there but you just had to dig a little deeper to find it as everybody seemed to be heading in about 12 different directions at the same time. Just a generalisation by me but the 80s were post Philly & Disco & pre House & RnB if you know what i mean. Somewhere in the middle of that lot you can stick the introduction of the Synthisized sound but thankfully roundabout the mid 90s everything seemed to get back on a level playing field. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, what about the Banfield track? Mart...
  24. Some great overlooked stuff about in the 80s. Might be wrong but IMO the biggest problem with 80s sounds is they are too new for the old Soul fans & too old for the new Soul fans & i think some of the comments on this thread so far prove my point. To have a listen to some great 80s tracks click on the link below. https://www.danceclassics.net/vinyl1.htm Nice to hear The Pasadenas again Roger . Any news on a release date for the new John Banfield track? ( can't remember the title of it for the life of me ) Sounded really nice when Terry Gee spun the promo of it at our last night. Mart...
  25. Agree with you r/e the modern scene but i think it's still got some life on the across the board scene Rog.
