  1. Eddiefoster commented on Guyh's comment on an event in Allnighters

A particular favourite of mine - I know this one was a c/u for Guy as Harold Melvin (perfect)

Sadly I never made it to Stafford at the time but I tend to gravitate to sounds I later learn featured there!! I believe this was one of them
  3. A note from Shaun Gibbons following the sad loss of Chris King: I was shocked to hear the news that Chris King had sadly passed away. Chris and I were not close friends but I always respected him as a fellow promoter. Chris always put his money where his mouth was and brought over some fantastic artists like the Ric Tic review at Hinckley, which was fantastic. My thoughts and prayers at this time are with his family and friends. RIP Chris from Shaun Gibbons and all the team at Soul Promotions

  5. We're going to take the opportunity to post some memorabilia from Morecambe, hopefully interesting and also might bring back some memories from those who attended: This is one of Richard Searling in the spotlight behind the decks Mr Soul Promotions himself Shaun Gibbons taking requests
  6. An interesting piece of video on the Morecambe Pier all-nighter from 1984 with commentary from resident DJs Richard Searling, John Vincent and Soul Promotions Shaun Gibbons................well worth 5 mins of your time

Event News: Last months Ukrainian saw the place absolutely rammed from early doors which is becoming the norm, we will now be running from 19:00 until 00:30 to help us deliver even more rare & underplayed soul on the night and squeeze in an extra DJ here and there - to be fair, with the Ashton faithful turning up at 19:15 anyway it isn't much of an announcement but please get there early to get your favorite spot in the arena We'd like to add a big thanks to all our attendees (regulars and newcomers alike) - it wouldn't have the magic without you all.
  8. I hate to even proffer this solution but a sizeable reward for safe return may be a sensible option if indeed the thieving ***** didn't steal to order and thought they could offload easily! Worst case if this is true is the records get dumped - so worth a try??????? My heart goes out to Ted - a terrible thing to happen and distressing on many levels.
  9. Following the sad news of the loss of Chuck Jackson Shaun Gibbons has asked me to post this memory on his behalf:
  10. Eddiefoster reviewed Eddiefoster's review on an event in Soul Nights

Shaun Gibbons messaged me today and asked me to post a review on his behalf as a self confessed technophobe 😂 Last night without a doubt, has to be one of the best nights I've ever had at the Ukraine club, well done to Chris and all the guys outstanding. Ps keep it up (please) Shaun Gibbons.

I'm sure we can persuade Mr Taylor to dust this one down 🙏

Always a great night and what a line up for February - I recall Alex giving this underplayed gem an airing the last time he was on at Culcheth......works for me AND it's a twofer 🎶

Thoroughly enjoyable - had a great night and on this occasion a chance to visit the modern room as I was on early in the main room, wowser just brilliant As already mentioned packed from when the doors opened - this is a venue that deserves that electric atmosphere so hats off to the team for delivering a fantastic night. Even the corridors had a buzz about them LOL See you all next time
  15. You're a top man Ste, enjoy x
  16. Happy Birthday pal x 63 my ass 🤣
  17. Dave Holt reliably informs me that Chris King played this covered as Bob Hinsleys Strings that night
  18. I gave this one its first outing at Culcheth before lockdown - to my surprise it got a great reaction as something quite a few of the faithful hadn't heard played out before!....job done (accidentally LOL)
  19. I might roll this out if I'm brave enough LOL - not something you hear too often but great Northern none the less IMO?
  20. Not bad BazM - worth a spin if I can fit it in
  21. Lots of scrabbling about in the playbox going on for the Lowton Anniversary - anything could happen 🤔 Requests welcome
  22. Looking forwards to this event immensely - Lowton was the jewel in the crown of soul nights throughout the 90s and up until the venue sadly closed (I think that was 2017?) but Culcheth is a worthy replacement! If the last anniversary was anything to go by it will be rammed so get there early and expect great things from both rooms
