try sitting in a beer garden with 30 smokers its worse than ever
  2. About a year ago I promoted a soul night in my local town. This attracted 50+ soulies, however as this was a hotel there was a strict no smoking policy. This disrupted the room as the smoking area outside was across the dance floor, leading to a situation of patrons coming back and forth all night. With the new smoking laws in force very soon, small promoters can expect the same. ALSO if using the entrance to go "have a fag" the door man will be constantly asking for confirmation the punter has paid. A stamp on the back of the hand probably the quickest way to identify. Will the promoter be the person responsible to ensure the no smoking rules are adhered to as after all he has hired the room, or is it the responsibility of the landlord etc... COULD THIS BE THE END OF ANY SORT OF ATMOSPHERE AT SMALL VENUES

there was no official release on vinyl, its on the very best of C.D. however I seem to think it appeared on an unofficial E.P. with some non Marvin tracks.but, I have been wrong in the past but whatever.

Can anyone help me with a listing of mowest singles, U.K. and U.S.A. please Dave
  5. As I started this link I thought I'd give my views and opinions. I'm a Motown collector but do DJ on occasion. I tend to use the mike if I'm playing a semi known track for example I would simply say this is Kim Weston , therefore anyone wanting to know can ask "what was that kim weston track" for a known track like "why when love is gone" I probably would just mix / fade it in as everybody will probably know it. for a different version of a track like for example Bobby taylors "its growing" I would say something like Although well known by the temps this is Bobby taylor... ( a great record by the way) the crowd should know the title..add to that some other bits and pieces and that should do.Dont forget the most important bit of all...LAST ORDERS AT THE BAR.. Dont think ive eveer seen a "top" DJ not use the mike. WESTY
  6. What do you class as the role a DJ plays. Is it to bring us poular and / or unknown sounds. Is it to inform us. Is it to entertain us. Is it to educate us .Is it to trick us. How can somone DJ and not use the mike. Does he then just become a human jukebox.
  7. DOTTIE AND MILLIE AND THAT RECORD THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CABARET TUNE,THE ONE WHERE YOU IMAGINE A GUY IN A VELVET SUIT WITH HIS BOW TIE UNDONE WARBLING AWAY. YEAH YOUVE GOT IT " THE SNAKE" YUK

  13. The story behind the film goes as follows (unless I'm greatly mistaken). The film has been shown twice by the BBC, They wanted to show it again and bring it out on DVD. However the actors involved took a small fee for appearing thinking they would get more cash from repeat fees. The beeb was happy to do this but some of the actors have now got too big for their boots,so to speak, and wont give the Beeb the permission they need to reshow it.Therefore unless you know someone with a copy, or occasionally one appears on ebay youre out of luck.I'll laeve it up to you to guess which actor / actors are involved, Ive got my own idea....
  14. Heard a record the other day with same backing track as the Four Tops Something about you but as the D.J. didnt use the mike didnt get the name or artist. Anyone got any ideas.....Dave
